Western NTEA 2009

Some picts of the new Western Light weight. For the most part it looks like all of the DD line is going to Multiplexing wiring.

Why is everyone going to those crappy looking headlights?. Looks like some space alien or something.

I'm a boss guy, don't know much about blizzard or the others but it sounds and looks like they are all going a little el cheapo.

Maybe with the larger cross bar the lights won't look so HUGE.

Sorry, still think it is like looking at the back of two TV's on your hood.

Personally I think they suck. The backs broke out of mine within a few storms last season. Duck tape holds em together now, and I see I am not the only one in town with the problem either.

The light is better, but not that much better. Certainly nothing like the Meyer, or Boss offerings.

Upgrades now for Blizzards will be HID conversions like Alaska Boss did on the other site. I think it set him back $75.

Western has a video up of the new HTS(Half ton snow plow). Apparently the reason for the crossbar set up like it is, is to allow for more air flow to the radiator.

I personally like the new lights, yea they are BIG, but I think they give off better light and I was thinking of doing the HID conversion as well.

Anyone have any links to anyone that has done a conversion to HID?

TIA

Those new lights are pretty cheezy not to mention the bulbs
are $20 bucks! I don't think they throw out much more light
than my old Western/Grote lights which bulbs cost $5 bucks!

Well I did a lights up comparison last winter. We had the Meyer Night Saber 2's on the truck tower for the blizzard plow, had the adapter mount for the Western Wideout with the Western/Fisher/new Blizzard lights on it. Due to the way the truck is wired I could switch between the two.

The West/Fish/Blizzards give a wider light pattern without alot of depth. The Meyer NS2's give more depth without quite as much width.

I tested them with just low beam / high beam and also with the low high tied together on high beam.

End result when plowing the NS2's give the best overall light.

Oh come on now. Thats not nice to say. you hurt my lights feelings. Besides who can see much anyhow I know all I see is white stuff flying over top of my windshield every time I'm plowing. Guess I should slow down or add a deflector.

If ya read above it was not if they worked or not. It was how well they worked vs options avail that I posted. I ran em on my Wipe out all season and they worked fine.

Oh and on the HID conversion...Send a PM to Peter Beering for info on the change module selection that he found.

Good luck,
J

Saw a load of plows on RTE 290 yesterday making it's way south/west. At first look it was a load of Fisher but then as I looked closer you could see a lot of red underneath all of the black plastic wrapping. It was the first time I had ever seen a load of Western & Fisher being shipped on the same truck.
