I think any threads that haven't had activity in the last 90 days or "so called members" that have only posted once or twice in a year (6 months actually) should be removed. J M O...:soapbox

if you scroll down on the forum page you can select to show only threads from the last i believe its anywhere from the last week all the way to the beginning and all in between. One major reason for not deleting them is alot of the old threads have some pretty important material in them that someone may be looking for. Its a alot easier to find an answer to a question that has already been asked to just search for it rather than to have to wait for someone to come on and answer the question again.

In my opinion, I don't think "so called members" as it was put should be deleted due to lack of posting. I'll admit that I haven't added many posts to the boards, and regret this has to be one of the few. If I do have information to add to the discussion I gladly do. But if I do not have an opinion or do not feel that I have something positive to add to the topic, I don't. Many of us are either new to plowing, or not 100% in the business of plowing. I for one plow for a friend of mine to help him out during the winter season. But these boards are a wealth of knowledge for novices all the way up to the pros. I have been plowing for roughly 6 years now and still learn something new each time I browse. I feel that anyone that is remotly involved in snow removal of any kind should be encourged to read the posts and learn from those with experience to be better at the job and operate as safe as possible each time the snow falls. And this site is the best around.
Now this post was by no means meant to put anyone's opinion down. Each post should be looked at as a discussion, and should be valued. Thank you.

Now thats about the most assinine thing I have seen posted here since I have became a member which was very shortly after this site has become created...... There is alot of new or novice plowers that are just taking in the great deal of information provided here. Give some good reasons as to why the post or members should be deleted??????:headwall

Like Seth said you can adjust your pref's to view most recent threads only.
All post new or old can be a great referance for many including me i looked up something yesterday from 03 .
Has far has members go some people choose to view and learn some choose to join in thats up to the person . I think back to the old days and i know i didnt post much but sure learned a ton , has people feel the need to ask a question they will.
I would encourage all new members to join in dont be shy we are here to help wether your new to plowing or have plowed for years everybody learns from input. Your never to old to learn.!!
PS My dads favorite response back to me always use to be "the only stupid question is the one you dont ask"

That has never been past practice and I doubt it will ever become policy here. Old threads are like old books in the library, great reference materials.
Members who choose not to post as often as some others are as welcome here as those who post daily. This Board is here to provide an exchange of information and ideas, it depends not on whether you're on the providing or receiving end of that information. That being said, we'd love to hear from any sand baggers who visit us regularly, or even not so regularly.

Chuck did remove members a while back. But they were members that didn’t log on for a very long period of time and didn’t post. For a while guests couldn’t view threads and lots were joining to read for a couple hours and never coming back. I think his logic was we don’t want a huge number of members just to say we have them. I think anyone that signs on even a couple times a year has nothing to worry about. And I don’t think the old Gems should ever be removed. Just lately I have been referring a lot of posts back to older ones with the new members coming on for winter. Sometimes I can supply a link in 2 seconds and get someone some information. If any posts ever get removed maybe the for sale type posts at some point could be purged. Once the item was sold. And the test posts or something like that.
Sometime just go to who’s on line and watch what people are reading it’s pretty interesting some of the old ones that are helping someone out.
I also would encourage the new members to not be afraid to post to a old thread and bring a issue back up when they have something to add. The seatbelt thread is a good example of how it will slow down for a couple months and then some new thoughts will appear.
New members don’t be afraid to jump in. and a introduction post is always great to see.
Keep the oldies……
Maybe we should also delete all the posts from the members that post a topic in the wrong forum.

I also say keep the old threads. I don't go back often anymore. But I know when I first joined I read almost everyone of them. It not only gave me a great wealth of knowlage, but also gave me a true sense and feel for the site and it's people.

I do delete posts in the Tests Forum, and the Wanted / For Sale Forum, about every 90 days or so. If a Member has not visited in over a year, and never posted, they get deleted when I do some cleaning up. Other than that, Members and posts are here to stay!
Everyone else that posted a reply on this said the rest for me. :) I agree with all they said.

This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say...not stir up . My apologies for not having the intellect to say what I meant.
