Although there are many things that I think should happen to him, I think the best thing would be to hand him over to a court of Iraqis. Even if the trial is, uh, "fair", there's no way he's going to get out of punishment for what he's done (hanging is one of the more humane methods I would suggest). And security should be provided by Coalition forces; none of this "oops, we've lost him, again" BS.
Hopefully he was "well treated" when he was captured ;)

This is GREAT news!!! I haven't seen it on TV yet either, but you guys make it sound for real this time. I think aleksei has the best idea, turn him loose to the Iraqui people, let them serve justice!

Maybe now things will quiet down a bit over there, though I'm sure there will still be a few rebels.

NO we can't kill him....
He will soon only dream that we had killed him.
Torture him only enough he remains alive, like he has done so many others...

One down one to go....

This was for sure one early holiday gift to the world.

This is for sure GREAT news to hear! I hope they do torture the heck out of him, just killing him would be way too easy! I didnt see anything on tv yet, but I hope they are positive they actually got HIM and not a lookalike or something. Really good news, especially right before the holidays. Way to go troops!! What amazing news to wake up to!

I think the best revenge would be to give him a sex change operation and make him live the rest of his life as a woman. They spent so much time and energy oppressing women, let him see what it is like!!

I think the best thing about this whole capture thing is that he didn't put up a fight. He wimped out. And I think that it really puts a blow to his followers who thought he was this superior being...They found out he's a scared, demented, puke...

WAY TO GO SOLDIERS:salute :usa I am watching it now, Saddam looks like H***! I'm sure it was a difference for him living in a hole small enough for one person, with a bed and running water, versus his expensive palaces! It sounds like he was hiding out across the river from his palaces. Excellent, excellent job to the soldiers who showed such resolve, never gave up, and now have found this terrible person and will bring him to justice. :usa :usa

Apparently they've made sure. Actually captured him yesterday. They've been making sure and running DNA tests.

I think you can expect some increased activity from his followers in the expectation that they can force us to turn him loose.

Turning him over to the Iraqis for prosecution seems like a good idea, but there are a couple of problems with that. These people are completely terrified of Saddam. Anyone who testifies against him will be subject to potential threats from his followers. Today on TV, Iraqis were refusing to be interviewed or photographed because they feared that either his capture is a hoax or that he will escape. And where are you going to find an impartial jury among the Iraqi people? You can bet his followers will threaten retribution for anyone who speaks against him.

Basically we've got a tiger by the tail - can't hold on and can't turn loose.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Without firing a shot, American forces captured a bearded and haggard-looking Saddam Hussein in a dirt pit across a river from one of his former palaces near his hometown of Tikrit, ending one of the most intensive manhunts in history. The arrest was a huge victory for U.S. forces battling an insurgency by the ousted dictator's followers.

Haha, I like Chris's suggestion of the sex change..... :D
I was at one of the "other" sites earlier, not P**wSite but ********, to see what the famous (infamous?) Charles had to say. Not trashing anyone's political views (though I can do that pretty well....), but it's like "Dude, Saddam's been captured, and they know it's him. How can you whine about it?"
Kinda makes me sick, thinking about the fact that there's someone making bad noise about the whole thing when all the Marines/soldiers/sailors (??)/airmen are off fighting, away from their families for Christmas, every day facing the chance that some rag.... oops, "member of the opposing force" will spring up and ambush them.
I guess he's one of those people who I wish I could say "shut up or get out" to; but hey - this is America, land of the free :usa

You watch guys, he will probably be living in Miami in some nice house, living it up. Youve got to wonder everyone we have put into power we have had to remove. Kinda interesting isnt it! Just like during the Gulf war I had some DF buddies that were hanging out waiting to take him out and they could have but were told to stand down, why! Well he actually keeps a balance in that part of the world. Just like we could have caught him a while ago but I cant say anymore about that. Just something to think about!

Tileman, I merged your post to this thread that was already running.

I heard on the radio yesterday that there are actually people complaining about the capture due to political reasons. Some can never see things for what they are!!

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like he'll be tried and sentenced in Iraq, the best scenario I think. Not so much bureaucracy to get in the way over there!

Maybe there shoud just be a hanging in the middle of the night or a live-fire accident or something to just deal with the problem. Of course, then all the human-rights people will be up-in-arms (wait, they don't believe in the use of deadly force ;) ) about how he was treated and not given a fair trial.... blah blah blah....
Once everything in the UN starts heating up, I'll bet some soldier somewhere will be smacking his head, wishing he had just pulled that trigger.

They should have left one of his statues up with benevolent arms out stretched.

Great hitching post for a rope, he could then look at himself as he kicked, and the lights went dim.

They should put his hanging on pay-per-view :D Might help build funds for the rebuilding.....

OK, that sounds sick, but why not? If you don't like the idea, just don't pay to watch it.

The soldier should've tossed the grenade as first intended. The world would have been spared the kangaroo court that we are about to witness. Sympathizers the worldwide will come to voice themselves on behalf of an old, remorseful appearing man. If you think folks are crying a river now about seeing Saddam undergoing a hair and dental exam, wait until some court hands down a hundred death sentences!! Meantime, they might as well try the guy on the moon, since that's about the only location where asassin attempts won't occur.
