on my friends 91 dodge 150 with 6 cyl,it started runnin rough lately-it will run for a couple of miles then stall sometimes or won't run all together-is there a way to check if it is injectors or pump?is injector cleaner recommended?-the pump looks fairly new so i'm leaning towards the injectors but i am very unfamiliar with them-can they be cleaned if removed or should they be peplaced?-any ideas?

ok-this is my first attempt at fuel injectors,so bear with me please-the truck would start, then after a few miles just die-in the driveway, i started it one cold morning-ran ok-took off air filter and looked down barrells of "carb"-i noticed small amounts of fuel accumalating on the throttle plates and in the heads of the screws-when i pumped the throttle a bit it would rev up,down for a split second, then really high, then normal-????????-let it warm up,then hit gas pedal a bit and sure enough it died-wouldn't start for about another 5 min-changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor and it fired right up-thought i fixed the problem-nope-on the way home it died going up a hill-
my thoughts are: injectors jets are either worn too big or staying open too long and fuel is pooling on throttle plates, when you hit the gas it floods it by dumping what's there in the chamber-with bad plugs it wasn't burning all the fuel, now plugs are changed it is burning more fuel but still not all-would the injectors be bad?or would it be the regulator?(i thought it was the pump-wrong again-it's in the tank)any ideas would be great-i don't want to get my buddy to buy injectors if he doesn't need them-92 dodge 150 3.9 v-6g'day

when he bought the truck it wasn't pooling on the throttle plates and ran really good-when it started to run rough we noticed alot of fuel staying there till you hit the throttle, then it would dump down and kill the motor-luckily he was a winter beater with the same motor-one injector was changed on that last year and you can see the new one spraying less fuel-that's why we thought maybe worn jets(too much gas being sprayed)we are going to check fuel pressure as you suggested to eliminate everything before spending serious money-thanx for reply
