Hi all,
my dad just picked up an '05 chevy 2500HD with an 8' ultramount installed. We have a concern that the way the mount is designed it's really low as far as ground clearance. Even with the torsion bars cranked up more it looks like he's gonna bottom out or dig in when the chutes are on. He plows his drive/yard and it's not perfectly flat and level. Just moving it around with the plow off it this summer he dug up the yard. It loooks like with the plow off and the chutes still on he'll hit the curbs when parking. (we angle park in our town) I have an '04 with an 8' fisher and it has way more clearance.
I guess what I'm looking for here is anyone's experience with this same setup positive or negative.
Thanks a bunch. - Tim

The GM Western mounts do hang pretty low.Are you sure it's the correct mount for the truck ?

You can add bigger tires to give you some more ground clearance.

WEELS..............Yup...........Lowrider !!!!!!!!!

Western changed the mount recently so no cutting of the air dam
is required. Now its even LOWER !!!!!!!!!!

Just the nature of the beast !..............geo

Thanks for replying guys.
I tried to find a number on the mounts to verify they were correct, but no luck finding anything. I'm really just assuming the mount is correct. The dealer had it installed by a Western installer/dealer. I almost figured it was - as you say "the nature of the beast". I like my fisher plow better just because they did cut the air dam to get it to ride higher.
Thanks again. - Tim

WEELS.....The mount they prob. put on your truck is #67981-2.
Thats the one that rides under the air dam.............

Fisher changed to this style mount also. (different part and # tho)
Your Fisher mount is prob. the old style.............

If you check ANY new plow set up most have the same amount of
clearance anyhoo.................

PIA to be sure and ya gotta watch that low clearance................

This is a common problem on the GM's, best bet is a few turns on the torsion bars and load boosters.
