Guys, I am looking for a male/female connection that is not going to rot in 1 year to hook up my lightbar so I do not have to run the cord over the truck and through a door to plug it in. This way I could hard wire it off of the switch box with the sander & vibrator. I have checked Galls and AW Direct with no luck.

I got it from a local supply house and I think they call them weather packs made by packard electric. They are not cheap but do the job.

Good Luck Mike

I would reccommend the same ones. They are called delphi packard weatherpack connectors. Here is a link (http://order.waytekwire.com/IMAGES/M37/catalog/218_030.PDF) that you can see what we're talking about. You are supposed to have a special tool to crimp the connector but can do it without it if you really have to. The tool is on the same link though.

Ron, They don't make the weatherpacks that big. You want the Anderson (http://http://order.waytekwire.com/IMAGES/M37/catalog/218_034.PDF) connectors. I don't think they are waterproof or weatherproof though. Hope this helps.

Or use the Meyers style connectors, the ones going to the pump motor. They are close to weathertight and have a pretty stout cable hooked to them. Weatherpacks max out at 12 ga. wire.

Depending on how big of a light bar. You could use a 2 conductor plug for a trailer light setup. You can get these at any auto part stores or Wal Mart in the trailer wiring section.

Alan,

Thanks, I would have to use a large butt connector as well than as the connection I am are trying to improve is at the rear of the truck for the Downeaster tailgate spreader. One end is hard wired into the auger motor.

I was thinking about just buy the pump plug for just about any plow. I know it is that same as Battery cable and the connection for the plow motors stay pretty dry with the use of lots od deielectic grease.

Thanks, I let ya know how it works out. I have improve this hook up as it is the ONLY thing that gave me any trouble last season and I will be running two of them this season.

For my lightbar I just used a 7 pol trailer plug. But I had alot of functions. I dielectric greased the crap outa it and never had a problem.

I "weatherproofed" mine by filling the back of it with silicon and then using another connector filled with silicon as a dust plug.
