What do you guys think of this plow (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Western-Snow-Plow-Ultra-Mnt-fits-00-04-Chevy-HD-series_W0QQitemZ8002014580QQcategoryZ63688QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem)? Do you think it is worth going to Ohio to get? I have searched around my area for a used one and there doesn't seem to be any around. I am assuming that everything would fit my 01 HD from the 02. I have emailed the seller, but I would like to know if there is anything specific I should ask for as in pics or other info.
Thanks
William

I dont see the harness and mount listed, I read complete package but what is in that package ? Dont let him fool you on use either. That edge is about shot, They should last about 50 plus hours I guess. I know they are just a 3/8 edge but the barely used thing well

Also note............NO shoes and it does have a deflector.
Can we say "worked hard"?
William.........Have you priced new? Did ya give Jerre's Service
a ring to see what he has in used? Even a Blizzard straight
blade price new?

looks like a commercially used take-off to me. The guy has other listings for plows, which leads me to believe that he's a shop, which leads me to believe that it was used by a commercial plower. The "I only plowed my driveway" guys keep the plow and put it on their new truck. Probably well-used and well-abused, and there's a good chance its misrepresented, too. Who knows? :beatsme

I agree, this unit looks rough, even the plow markers are not OEM, with that price, I would get a new one, once you find out that the wire harness isnt worth a crap, and you have to get a new one, purchase the bolts from a dealer, or just having the thing installed you'll end up spending close to the same $$$ if you bought new, but still have a POS plow and all the problems that go along with it. JMO!

Alright, thanks guys. I guess I will avoid it. I have priced some new ones in my area and I have gotten any where from 34 to 3900 installed. My only problem with getting one from Jerre is getting it from Erie to Mt. P Iowa. Otherwise I would look into it.

What are you looking for William exactly ?
Talk to John (garage keeper) here as well. he comes across used stuff from the car dealerships all the time. they call him with stuff they pull off trade ins. I would trust his opinion any day. Sure beats a pic on ebay. He is a good guy and a heck of alot closer.
I thought Jerre told me around 2500 "installed", for a used ultra was about right. So this guy is high in more ways then one.
I will keep an eye out as well for you. We can get you set up for this season, plenty of time left.
Oh by the way my ultra had 3 seasons well maintained allways garaged (all year) I sold for 1850 with emergency kit, harness, mount and drove 2 hours to deliver to help the guy out. So you can still find a deal just move quick now cause in about a month used stuff is at a premium.

Todd- I am lookin for a Western 8ft Pro with the Ultramount. I have a friend that has installed several on his trucks and said that he will help me intsall the plow on my truck. He quoted me at 3400 with my help installing it. I am really kicking myself for not buying yours!! I was literally getting ready to email you with a couple questions about it when I read that you had sold it. Oh well. I'll send a PM to John. I sent an email to another dealer up in Des Moines askin if he had any used ones. He said that he didn't at the time but thatthey are having a Snow Plow days on the 14 of next month and that he might be getting some in then and that I should keep in contact with him. I am heading to Streator Ill tommorrow to see some family and have even kicked around looking over there. I am not real sure as to where but I guess ask and look in the phone book. Thanks for the help Todd

Well here is kind of an update, but not much of one. I have been in contact with a gentleman named Bill from Hawkeye Truck Equipment in Des Moines. Is the salesman for Iowa. He has been very helpful in talking with me and answering my emails. He informed me about a Snow Plow Open House on the 14th of October where reps from some of the different manufactures will be on hand to answer questions. I have asked him to let me know if he comes across any good used plows that might get traded in.

How do these prices (http://stores.ebay.com/E-Truck-Equipment_Western-Snow-Plows_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm) seem? The seller isn't very far from me, about an hour and seems to have a good feed back rating.

I know you guys are tired of me askin all these stupid questions but I just saw this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8005397956&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) on Ebay. I emailed the seller askin if he would meet me half way but he says that he has now way to haul it. Do you think it's worth the drive? According to Yahoo it's about 7 hrs +/- for a one way trip.I plan on watchin it for a couple more days because I have a friend across the state that is going to check with his local dealer tommorrow. I have thought of putting in a bid equal to the minumum bid or just going with the buy it now price. The description says that it needs a controller and the wire going from the battery to the plow. Any idea on prices for these. I see controllers on ebay for 100 bucks or more.
Thanks again for your time guys Preciate it.

It looks pretty good, I wonder if this plow was a bit warm though. I cant imagine someone selling stolen stuff on e bay but ya never know. Ask what the serial numbers are for the plow. Price wise I dont think I would pay 3 k for a used plow that is in Ohio. If it was close to you and you could look at it I would say maybe but ya never know. I guess 2500 if it is all there would be a good price I would stick to that as you will spend at least a couple hundred going there and back.
