Does anyone have any updates on how well these work in the real world? I know there were a few people talking about buying a set last year so I wondered if they ever did....

I'm looking into these, too. They sound like a damn good idea, industrial diamond bits ingrained in the rubber. Kind of like have rock salt permanently stuck to your tire :D

I'm interested to see if anyone on here has them too! Any real-life reviews?

I bought a set from http://www.high-tec-retreading.com/sizes.html

Don't bother, buy the Cooper M&S and have them studded. The green diamond that this guy sells isn't worth it. We got stuck more than we used to, and my brother noticed how much more he had to use 4wd.

The green diamonds I bought for my brothers 2 wd pick-up from this guy in NY http://greendiamondtire.com/ worked great. Completely different type rubber and traction.

Apparently dealers are franchises that can retread using the green diamond system. Each one has a little different product, so depending upon where you get them, they vary. The one in NY said he imports his and only has just so many, when their gone their gone.

Either way, we're going back to studs. Even the Top Kick may get 11 22.5's that are studed .

I've been using them for about 5 years now, and they are the best snow tire on the market. In Canada they are manufactured & distributed by Eastern Tire http://www.easterntire.ns.ca/
They don't have the absolute traction of studs, but are close, but thet also don't leave marks on new asphalt :nodd The best part is the price, here they're about $CDN 90 for 235 85 E 16. I always run a narrower tire for snows, so these replaced the 265 75 16 on my GM. On the Trackless we run 215 85 16 Es If I could get 18.4 38's for the Case I'd have them on it to :o

Interesting replies--one from each end of the spectrum!

I didn't realize that they were franchised like that--I guess I thought the hi-tec guy was the main dealer for them. Silly me!

Just for the record, studded tires are ILLEGAL in Ontario. I can't run them even if I wanted to. Can't say that I've ever seen chains on the street either.

Hence, my interest in the Green Diamonds.

I wonder if Eastern Tire has any affiliates here in Ontario.

Any more reviews?

I would definitely buy them through eastern tire. Like I said, I wasn't happy with them, other than the price, but if they're working for nsmigillan than they may be a decent tire for you.

You were happy with these but not the Hi Tecs right ? I guess I am a bit confused here. So the guy in New York had good green diamonds, the guy in Colorado had bad green diamonds right ?

Which tread syle were you running on your brothers truck, same as the other truck or are they 2 different types ?
Thanks
Todd

The ones from NY seemed ok. My brother liked them and said they grabbed and gripped the snow real well. The others, frankly, sucked. But there seemes to be no way of insuring that you're getting the good ones unless you can get them from someone like nsmilligan is. That way you know what you're getting in advance. I realize you're in a different situation, but I'll never stray from studds again. Learned my lesson and will put the studded coopers on the wifes Trailblazer and the '98 3/4 ton.

Sorry, to finish, yes, they were different type treads. I ran the ones the guy out west suggested, and my brother ran the ones the guy in NY suggested. Either way, they didn't have the same tread offered, both used different molds.

For the record, I use the ETS Trailmaster TD pattern, derekboerse, click on the link in my 1st reply and drop them an e-mail, I'm quite sure they distribute to Ont.
