Hi all, the other day I went to hook up my SnoPro 3000 ( new last year ) and when I raised the plow, the hyrdaulic jack only went 1/2 way up. I lowered the plow into "float" and tried to use the jack button to manually raise the jack. It started to raise, then got extremely slow about 1/2 way, then stopped. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but it sounds to me like a blocked/clogged hose? I could be completely wrong, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Chev77,
I'm almost positive that the jack is raised by spring. If you hit the button to raise the jack, you'll notice that the pump doesn't run. It only opens the valve so the spring can raise the jack. I had an issue last year that on the first use of the year it did not raise entirely. Ocnce I had it on the truck I held the jack button to the raise position and pushed the jack up the rest of the way with my hand. Must of had some crap in there, once it raised all the way I did not have any problems with it the rest of the year. Take a look underneath, maybe something is blocking the jack from coming up or else hit the spring with some lubricant and work it up and down a few times.

Hope that helps !!

Rob, thank you for the advice. I looked at it today, and did exactly that. I lubed all of the pivot points, including around the jack and it's components. After this, I then tried to raise the jack. It will raise all the way now using the button, however it takes quite a while, as it slows dramtically after about 1/2 way. Although I can get it up using the button, it will not raise when I raise the whole plow with the controller as it is supposed to. The only way to get it raised with out using the jack button is to hold the "raise" button on the in-cab control. Both methods take a considerable amount of time. I repeated this several times and noticed no difference in the length of time it took to raise. Any more info would be greatly appreciated!

Chev77,
My thoughts would be one of two things. First, the spring is just not string enough to pull the jack back up or Second, the vale allowing the fluid back to the resevoir is not opening all the way or is dirty. You can look at the plow troubleshooting guide, I think what you are looking for is on page 25. Here is the link Plow Troubleshooting Guide (http://www.curtiscab.com/Curtis_Diagnostic_Guide.pdf).
Hope that is helpful, here are links to two other manuals showing the wiring schematic and the diagnostic procedure of which color wires should have voltage etc. http://www.curtiscab.com/Documents/Trouble_Shooting_Guide.pdf on page 11, it tells you how to test the voltage when raising the jack.
This guide will show you the wire schematic http://www.curtiscab.com/Documents/Sno_Pro_Harness_Layout.pdf

Good luck, and let us know how you make out !

My plow is sitting on the ground now, I guess the weight and it sitting for months has slowly raised the jackstand I was going to raise it today but there is now a large pile of dirt behind it. Oh well someday Ill make it in there.

I would change the fluid and see if there is a dirty screen in there. It should raise pretty fast. I never had that problem with my curtis but if you have not changed the fluid in awhile that would be the first thing I did. If that fails call Curtis Tech Support they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Good Luck Mike

chevy take the cover off and clean wire contacts that go to the valve body also check to make sure the vaives are tight do not xceed more than 5ft,lbs just a little more than finger tight it takes about 2/3 of a qt, to dothis proess be careful not to damage the o rings or take it to your buddys garage

The jack is not power up, it simply raises by spring. When you hit the switch or raise the plow, it should only open the valve and let the jack come up on it's own. So, as others have said, make sure you have good connecticity to the valves. I have had some probs with mine going down after it has been on the truck for a while. I gave it a shot of WD-40 on the pivot point and it has been fine since.
