Its only a matter of time now before we have it on hand and in full use :D

Jay the Miller Vintage is a great welder and you and Bill wouldn't be disappointed..
That unit is very similier to the Miller 200 that I have been running in the shop for over twenty years with not a single problem..
You will find it has all the power you will ever need and is simple to set up and operate..
So spend some money and get it ordered.
And then lets light up some wire...
 John...

Well anybody can weld on cars or trailer or equipment or other projects.
But to weld on stuctures and bridges you must take a test. The structual steel test you must do a fillet weld on two 3/8" thick by 7 long pieces of steel. With a 1" by 1/4" backing plate. But the hard part is it must be in the vertical up postions. Which is starting at the bottom and welding up. After filling the weld. You must do a cover pass over the whole thing. The entire test is done with stick welder running 3/32 7018 rod at 95 amps. They cut two strips out of the piece and bend them in a hydraulic press. If no cracks form that are more than 1/8" long then you pass. A bridge test is the same but you weld a 1" thick piece of steel. Its harder than it sounds. I failed my first one because I had a 5/32" crack in one piece. argh!!!
My cerification lets me weld stick :weld on structual steel in the flat, side and vertical up postions in the state of maryland. I am going for my inverted welding test next spring.
There also are MIG and TIG certifaction. But each has 8 or more test to each certifaction.

Amen John!!! I can't wait to get it and get it up and running. I already have a few Alan style projects in my head that I want to build right away when we get the welder.......

That is the best part is the fact that the company that I work for as an Engineer will pay 100% for any further education including trade school classes................
A little Welding education can't hurt :D
