What do you guys think of this spreader?

My other option is the Fisher 500.

It's going on a 1/2 Silverado.

Small to medium sized commercial lots, and a few residentials.

I'd go with a 1075 or a 1000 but I think fully loaded I'd be pushing my luck with the tounge weight.

Well you could go with a fisher speed caster II with an under mount they give you a whole new clasIV hitch then you will have a 2 stage that will do both salt and the sand salt mix

I'd spend a little extra, and get a 2 stage tailgate unit. You will never have to struggle with wet\sticking material anymore, making it much more productive.

I've been using one for a few years. Great little unit for small lots & bagged material. I put a vibrator on it & made some other adjustments & can shovel bulk in it with no problem as well. The only thing I don't like is the burst at start up, but I believe all single stage spreaders are set up like that.

We just purchased a 575 last season. We used it for driveways and small lots. Right now we use only bagged salt, and it stays dry. We didn't have any problems with it clogging. I wouldn't want to put bulk in it though.

The blast on startup does suck, especially for one-lane drives. Have to start it in the road so it doesn't blast into the grass/plants.

The variable speed controller worked well for us. I don't know how others work, but it would be nice if you could blast when the spreader was off (you can only blast when you are already spreading.

One last comment...if you are doing more than small lots, there will be a lot of fillups. I think ours held 7 bags? I don't remember. It worked for our application, but if I did many medium-large lots reloading would get old, fast.

Final thoughts...it's a good entry-level salter.

we have a snow ex on our garden tractor we use it for the walks tons of em. and at the lowest setting its perfect for the width of the walk. and in a jamb it will do the lots with a couple fill ups. worked fine every time we used it only repair ever was the control box got wet and shorted.
