When does it start and end ? Got me thinking now, I guess this deal could be too sweet to pass on. Just dumped about 1500 on repairs and upgrades for the 03 . I guess I will have to go shopping after the wedding. This would get the Cummins in the stable for cheap though.

Guys, it's a big scam! Sorry about the bad news! It is just another marketing scam! Here is how they do it!

First, they lower the price from the manufacturer sticker on the window...
second, they make you think you are saving a lot!
Third, they hit you with a higher interest rate for your payment
You save what...nothing!!!

I went to ford the day before the family discount and got a price
I went to Ford 3 days after to review the price with the family discount
Difference....$3.00
The saleman confirmed everything too!

I figured all 3 makers were promoting some sort of marketing scheme with that "employee discount"! I wondered in the end what the discount really would be. I just received a letter from D.C. stating that my dealer has been "specially selected to pilot a special buy back program and is authorized and looking to buy back 2002 Ram 2500 trucks". Uuuh, yeah right! Of course I would need to buy a new truck in order to qualify for this "special, time limited event". Right now with a dead truck sitting in my driveway from a failed transmission, I'd gladly deliver the thing through a dealer's front window and they can keep it. Then I'd gladly walk to the nearest Chevy dealer and get a Duramax with an Allison.

Billl you aren't really talking any great deal. the reason i say that is last year when i bought my truck sticker was 39k + and got it for just over 31k. so i think it really doesn't matter what promotions are going on, your going to get it for whatever there willing to take anyway. the dealer the truck is serviced at wanted about 6 more than i got it.

BWhite, thankyou sir.I built a truck on Dodge's web-site,MSRP was $36,395 Net Price was $31,520 (minus $4,875 Emoloyee Discount). Is the Net Price now listed what the invoice price was before the employee discount?I can also expect to get the $1,500 off the diesel? We're going to the dealer Chuck Smith suggested and see if we can work something out before the the offer is over.

When I called my local dealer he quoted the employee discount then subtracted the 1500. I believe everyone who is saying that this isnt a super deal, but it is a good deal . We can buy these trucks at any dealer where before you have to buy the " advertised " truck or had to go to a high volume dealership . The smaller dealership would never sell at these prices on an everyday basis .

Employee discount on that msrp is $8188.87

My '04 has window sticker of $37k, it bumped down with empoyee discount and rebates to $25k then I got $10k for trade in.

The discount is 22.5% dont get played.

Only diff dodge has is they also giving you rebates too.

But they have been doing it for years vrs gm and ford

Agreed..

If one plays their cards right at any given time 20 to 25% off of the window sticker is not out or the question.........

Bill, the 3.73 ratio is perfect for the CTD.I have 4.10's and love them about 70% of the time.If i could switch to 3.73 for cheap I would.Like Chris said th4e Cummins has plenty of low end,and pulls the taller gears great.

I have the 4:10 also, only time I don't like them is when traveling. I could get better fuel milage on the highways at 75mph

BWhite, sir I bought a Dodge/Cummins(posted on the general plow forum)I drove one truck with the 4.10(plus stuff I didn't want)and another with 3.73,my first thought were like you the 4.10 would have greater low end power but then I remembered what wyldman and John D wrote when I asked what would be the best rear end ratio for the Cummins/auto and they both said 3.73,they both know far more than i do about plowing and trucks,I did what they advised and got the 3.73,also the truck with the 3.70 was at least $2,000 cheaper, but if they would have said the 4.10 were better,I more than likely would have paid the extra money.Good luck.

Way ta go Basic. Welcome to the Club. :smokin1
I have a 97 Cummins with 4.10's and it pulls really well at our altitude. Still gets over 18 mpg if I keep the speed under 60 mph.
My '02 has 3.53 gears. They are just too tall for ths mountains. My 97 pulls the hills unloaded better than my 02 does. I would like to change gears but at over $800 per axle, it ain't likely. I guess the Edge chip is the next move, right Chris?? :nodd

Scott, do the Edge EZ,you dont need a gear change, dont forget to put the boost elbow in with it,its very important with the HO engine driven in the mountains.

Lets put this in a little perspective if we can. I too was almost sucked in by the ads recently. But is it really that good of a deal? I bought my truck dec 23, 2004. I paid slightly over $34000. And the sticker was just over $41000. Dont get me wrong I think you can get a good truck for a great price. But I also think it was possible before the promotion. Congrats on the new truck.

Supply and demand is what dictates the price . Around here 05's with Cummins sold them selves, :) So no you would not find one for 34000 before the employee pricing. I went to Milwaukee to find an 05. And trust me nobody was going less then the employee price. Like I stated in another thread one dealer in south Milwaukee has 50 05's with the Cummins, I will bet in 2 months you will do better then I did. Again supply and demand.
So I know that I did not get the deal of the century, but for this area I paid about 1500 less then when I shoped 2 months ago. Plus I got a good price for my trade did you ? Im sure they would have gladly nocked 2k off if they stole my truck for 14k but they did not. I got 17600 so I felt good about the "whole deal".

They also threw in a few freebies to sweeten the deal. Also if you take a look around TDR guys claim they paid 31500 in Texas so you got screwed at 34000 according to them.

I am happy with the deal I got. And it sounds like you are happy with the deal you got. And lets face it. We both bought the best truck on the market. I love this thing! :burnout I didnt want to argue about whos deal was better. I felt like i got a good deal before the pricing came out. But, I did buy right before the end of the year. Also, I traded a 1994 chevy 2500 with 230,000 miles. They gave me $3800 for it. So I don't think I got robbed on that deal either. The guys that screwed were the guys that bought the powerjokes from the other guy. :headwall
