Jim, you might want to get together with me sometime and go over what you have and what you want. If you have a 3/4 ton PU, you could put a Tail Gate (TG) sander on it, although I have heard people putting a TG on a 1/2 ton. I could probably steer you to a source of sand. Another way to go on a sander is getting a smaller ( 4 or 6 foot) Vbox unit that can fit into a 1/2 ton. Fisher sells a TG model. Downeaster makes the small Vbox sanders.

There was a guy in Manchester selling sand pretty cheap last year. I just can't remember who it was right now. Usually, you would get bulk sand/salt from a gravel pit. Otherwise, you could buy bagged from Home Depot. If all you're doing is a small parking lot, you could use a spreader, like the ones they sell at HD for lawn seed and fertilizer.

If you're wanting to prevent ice from forming and snow from bonding to the parking lot surface, I could show you the benefits of Magic Salt and how to use it to the best advantage. I make and sell small quantities (disclaimer: I am not an authorized dealer). If you'd like, I'd give you some to try out.

Either way you go, let me know and we can try to set up some time for me to come into Augusta, look over what you've got and talk about alternatives.

( I just got off the phone with Jim. We had trouble with the phones and got disconnected, so I'll be finishing our conversation).

Jim, I was just trying to get an idea of how big an area you're wanting to be sanding.

I'll plan on getting out there next week and will call you the night before.

Yeah, Orrin Lee had a lot of plowing business. Then when he died, his widow sold all his equipment. Some outfit in Gardiner (I forget the name) picked up most of it. I tried for the 1-7-10 bowling alley contract last year, but didn't get it. Probably just as well.

I'd like to try to make it out to see you tomorrow, if it's not raining. But the prediction is for rain the next three days.

Jim, since your cell phone wouldn't go through, I sent you a Private Message asking if you wanted to me to come out today, knowing you were on here by the list of active members. We can talk about what equipment would be best for you, cost and where to get it.
