I'm planning on buying a transmission cooler for the new Jeep, however I'm not sure what size I should get. Would a 5" x 12" x 3/4" be sufficient or would something closer to 7.5" x 15.5" x 3/4" be a better fit. Besides the plowing I'll do, I have some occasional towing around 3500lbs maybe twice a month.

Get the biggest you can find, and fit in there.Go with a stacked plate type cooler,as they are way more effecient than a regular style.

You can also get Jeep cooler line adapters for the rad,so it's an easy install.

I would run it through the big cooler first, then through the rad cooler. This will remove the heat from the trans, without adding any load (even may reduce it) on the cooling system. It will also help the trans from running too cold in the winter.

Thanks, I already got the adapter kit because I sure didn't want to cut any of the lines. I'm gonna have to pull off the grill to find out how big of a cooler I can fit.

Ok so I've narrowed it down to two, I'll probably end up getting the B&M because it has 36 rows instead of the 6 for the Derale. Anybody have any experience with either brand good or bad?

1 - B&M 6 x 11 x 1.5 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006HM85M/sr=1-10/qid=1113410975/ref=sr_1_10/102-5519558-4566511?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A1MK3HAFHEKCQU&n=11081031&s=merchant&v=glance)

or

2 - Derale 7.5 x 11 x 3/4 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006HNM7A/sr=1-8/qid=1113410975/ref=sr_1_8/102-5519558-4566511?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A1MK3HAFHEKCQU&n=11081031&s=merchant&v=glance)

Go with the B&M,as it's a stacked plate design.

The Derale is a plain old tube and fin style.

Do a google search for Long LPD (low pressure drop) stacked plate coolers. I think Long also makes the B&M cooler and several of the OEM coolers.

Long sells coolers in several sizes, and most come with metal mounting brackets and all the adapters and hoses you need. I got mine from a mail order place in the Dallas area.
