A Tandem axle Mack, I was told these are not used for salting and plowing unless conditions are bad they usually just run the 10 ton units.

Another shot, one of the drivers came out and pulled the truck out so I could get better pics. Plus my 9 year old who was with me got to get in the cab and the driver actually gave him a ride around the yard, man kids get all the fun. LOL

Great pics and great trucks!! Are they stick or autos?
I love the way they have that V box on the tandam locked in with the tailgate hardware .

A tailgate spreader on a ten wheeler would be a little dangerous. Between the added weight and extra height when raised, the center of balance would be very high and make the truck unstable on all but the levelest of roads. My guess this is why they've got the V-box on that truck.
Nice pics! I like how low profile the head gear for the plows is, it's an interesting hoist assembly. Macks are manufactured in Pennsylvania, probably a big reason they are running them. I've always had great respect for Mack trucks, they're a VERY reliable truck in construction. Unfortunately, we don't have a strong local dealer here so we don't see too many of them here.

I ran across Penn on I-80 a few weeks after christmas and after seeing a few PDOT trucks parked on various ramps along the way i finally figured out that they were waiting for the freezing rain that was on the way. At first i thought it was cool that they were going to be on top of things and then i started seeing 2 and 3 trucks lined up on the ramp and started getting nervous about what was about to come. Got to hand it to them though, ran into the freezing rain and they had already pretreated and were hitting it with salt again so i only had to run on wet roads. Found out how bd it really was when i got off in ohio and everything but the drive lane was covered with 1/2 inch of ice.
