Well, I think I have convinced my dad (also my boss) to buy me a Blizzard 810. Only though after you guys convinced me! :)

SO some questions now. We have a 1988 F250 at work that we want to put a plow on and thought it would be a good opportunity to put a 810 on it. BUT, will this plow be too heavy for this truck? The door sticker says that the truck's FRONT GAWR is 3305 LBS (or 1499 KG). So with the 810 being just under 1000 LBS I should be good right? Do they even make a bracket so I can hook an 810 up to this truck?

Also, if down the road something happened to this truck is it easy to transfer the plow to a new truck (just need a new bracket correct?)

Any other info would be great guys!

P.S. Any good dealers in Ontario? Only 3 showed up on Blizzard's website. Although I guess I could drive down to Jerre, only a day's drive.

Forget about putting ANY plow on that truck. It will have the TTB front end, which does not hold up well to carrying any weight.Something light, like a Snoway may hold up,but anything else will overstress that little front axle.

WHAT?!?! We have another truck that IS EXACTLY the same except it is an 87. It carries around a 8 foot Arctic plow and doesn't have any problems. This truck doesn't seem to have any problems handling it.

You've been lucky.

Most TTB spilt the left from axle beam right at the diff. Not a good plow truck.

A Blizzard 810 will kill that truck.

Most of the time i agree with advice given but on this one and its only my opinion doesnt really mean squat i have run a 86 F250 and a 91 ford F150 many years with heavy plows and have never had a issue. Iam defending these because has of right know with all the other troubles iam having with brand new trucks these two have asked for nothing this year there rock steadyand there both running 8hr commerical runs and have been since being put into service maybe iam just lucky:rolleyes:

the blizzard 810 is way to heavy for that truck. The front axle weight rating should be 4600 or better your isnt even close. My 1500 GMC has a 3925lb front GAWR. LIke Wyldman said more than likely you will break the front axle. If you really want this plow on that truck, consider a dana 60 axle swap, then it will carry it no problem. It sounds like your F250 is a light duty model, not the HD 8800GVWR one.

I should add has well by no means was i agreeing that a blizzard was ok for the older f250 just stating i have had no problems with 8ft straights and ttb front ends, Like John said the only way i would consider a blizzard on the old style ford is a diff swap.

Maybe a set of wings of some sort to your straight:D

Every body I know that has had those front ends has had bad luck with them. All of them had 8ft fishers on them. Fred I think your luck is do to the lighter weight of the westerns.

A lot of it is luck.I've seen guys carrying a huge heavy blade on a TTB equipped truck for years, and never had a problem.More often than not,the TTB eventually stretches and spilts right at the spring perch,on the drivers side.

We had a fleet of F250's back in the late 80's,and every single one of them split, multiple times, even the ones we had built up and braced. They just aren't meant to carry that kind of weight. The F250HD's are a little stronger too.The F250 LD's are pathetic.

Well, they aren't really pathetic, they are Fords afterall. Ford's rock! :) I guess I will have to look into getting my dad to buy me an F350 diesel! :D
