After a full day of plowing yesterday, I awoke at 5.30 AM to another 2-3" of snow this AM. Mind you this was not in the forcast at all last night. Needless to say I was in full panic, I really need o start at 4.30 AM to get everything to spec for the AM. Plus I has taken the plow off last night as well. So off to the new house where the plow is strored. Call all the guys in, run and get my plow, and start at 6.10 AM at my first account. Got those done and haded off to 2 in the next town over. Meanwhile the other 2 trucks started their routes at 6 AM as well. we were all done by 9 am, thankfully it was very fluffy suff, and that I had the blizzard. That saved so much time, from just hooking up( less than 3 minutes) to clearing lots in record time.
Please be nice, dont slam me to hard for not checking conditions earlier in the AM. Glad my customers didnt know how bad we alomost ropped the ball. As I drove to mount the plow, non of the roads had been touched so I guess I wasnt the only one.

we got the suprise snow as well. my nextel went off at 4:15 from the boss saying we had 4 inches on the ground. hauled ass down to the first account, a health and fitness joint, where nut jobs get there at 4 am and got started. normally we start about an hour earlier, but we managed to get it all cleaned up. i still laugh cause the night before the local weatherman said "some flurry activity tonight, but nothing that is gonna accumulate". I was out till 9 pm hauling snow at one of our accounts after hours and it was coming down good and we were planning on coming in early to sand, but having to plow everything sure was a panic. I think all the guys made record times on everything today. very productive.

At 10:30 last night, I went downstairs to fill the wood boiler before going to bed. Stepped outside with a yard stick and we had 3 new inches, and it was still snowing at a good clip. Laid down in bed and listened to an hourly weather update from Alan Jackson at the weather channel. he said up to 1/2" of flurries possible? :headwall We already had 3!

All the other weather forcasters had called for 2-4, but as usual the weather channels weather was WAY off. It's almost a joke around here to catch their weather report to see how screwed-up they are. I still don't understand why they use them at the local radio station.

BTW, set my alarm for 3 am, woke up at 5:45, so you were in good company.

We got just an inch or so last night, i went right out and salted pretty heavy,in case any more was coming, i needed some sleep BAD.The salt let me sleep, when iwent out this am About 8 or so, all lots were perfect, and you could clearly see the edges, and spots the salt didnt hit,so it was a good call.

I had planned on getting up at 4am to go salt as needed, forecast was for a dusting. Awoke to 2-3 inches and ended up to all commercials, roads and about half (the steep ones) of my drives. Got a few calls later for some other drives as well.

We got called out again this morning at 1:00 to start at 2:00 am. Had about 3" on the ground and ran into a small squall, but it only lasted a few minutes. The poly edges work incredibly well, the roads were clean like we used a squeegee. Finished up by 6:00am. Nice clean run. We were the only Town (Ridgefield) in the area to open schools on time. All of the surrounding towns had 90 minute delays. That may not be all that big of a deal, but Ridgefield is the highest elevation in Fairfield County which typically gets the most snow and is colder too. The Mayor and the Superintendent of Schools called to give their thanks and appreciation. The head of the Highway Dept was very pleased.

It's nice not having to wake up every hour and look outside. I just wait for the call from the highway dept.

I've had that happen to me once. I knew it was going to snow that night, so I set the alarm for 2am, and in my sleep, I must have turned the alarm off at 2 and stayed sleeping without realizing it. I woke up at 5 and just about ***** my pants, but we got everything done in record time. Now I have 2 alarm clocks, one is on the other side of the bedroom, and is set five minutes after my main alarm clock, so I never oversleep now. My wife really hates it though, two alarms going off at 2 am:eek:

Speaking of sleeping in, even though it has not snowed here in over 7 weeks, I had a dream that I woke up at 7 am and had slept through a snowfall. Woke up with my heart pounding ran to the window only to see green grass and sunshine out side. Bot this snow stuff really gets into your brain!

Glad you guys are still getting snow, I for one would like to forget about this winter in which we got a seasons worth of snow in just 4 weeks. I will remember it as "the winter which made my mechanic a rich man" :headwall

Good thing most of that squall missed us in middletown because i must have turned my alarm off and didnt get up until around 5:eek: we just got just a dusting here (enough to make it icy as hell) so i rushed in and salted everyone. If we had gotten that 4 inches i would have never been done in time for the commercial accts.
