Anybody keeping an eye on this weekends weather, there's supposed to be the potential for a mother of a storm, Gary Grey is predicting up to 18" for some parts of PA, and the first December tropical storm ever has just been spawned in the Caribbean, could be a wild weekend:feedback

Sussex county, NJ is expecting anywhere from 11 to 16. Stay safe everyone!:burnout plowing!
Since our power went out last night, I didn't get to monitor the weather before I went to bed. Got up this morning - Weatherbug was chirping. Major storm warning. Looks like we're going to get a good snowfall out of this one

Left work at 4, in Morris County. There was less than an inch on the ground. Got into Essex County 2 hours later, and there was about 4" on the ground. Took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to go 35 miles.
No plowing for me tonight.... If I can make it in to work tomorrow, I will get at least 16 hours in.
Stay safe everyone. It is going to be a long event. It's just getting started. We are now under a Blizzard Watch. According to Paul Kocin, this could be the most significant early December storm in weather history.
Being the first storm, I saw the usual new plows all over the place, and they all had the shoes on. I guess by the next storm, half of them will realize they should remove them, or at least adjust them.
While leaving work it was clear the management company didn't seem to care that over 1,000 employees would be taking the main road out. It was not black and wet, which shocked me. It was just starting to cover over. Guess they didn't pre treat...... I hear them on the radio, out salting various portions of the site. Seems the main road was left out, or needed to be treated again.

Gary Grey has updated the storm totals. Look out Mick, here it comes!
~Chuck
Finally getting a meal break! The weather guessers were wrong again, but this time it was by a significantly lower amount forecasted than what fell. They had thought we would get a changeover to rain for much of the day to keep snow totals down. Never rained. About 8" on the ground here now, still snowing moderate to heavy. 2"-4" predicted for the overnight, and then around dawn the "real" storm will start up. Yikes. We were forecasted to have 3"-5" by this point. So if they underestimated the first event , and are possibly underestimating the saecond one also, its gonna be a long week here. Thought we were going to get a nice nap or sleep break between storms, but now it appears that is not to be. I'll be happy with the hot meal & the change of clothes at least.
As Chuck mentioned, traffic has been the worst nightmare ever, though it is now clearing up. It took me 45 minutes to go 1 mile from one account to another at around 5:00PM! Ouch! I was able to get out & trouble shoot\repair an unworking light on the spreader between moves down the road LOL
I have tracked Gary Gray for 4 seasons now & he verifies for my area about 85% of the time, vs NWS about 70% vs local TV etc 65%, vs a local radio station guy that does about 75%. Today he & all the others were way low so far.

Ray, Did you get my PM??
Just got in from cleaning up some accounts. Been out since 6:30 AM, but had a 2 hr. nap break cause I didn't get to sleep until 3 AM getting ready;). We got about 4-5" of very wet stuff. Watching the Weather Channel right now and they are predicting 6-10" more by tomorrow night:cash
Time for bed:zzzz :zzzz
We're not getting anything yet. I've been monitoring Weatherbug and the weather on the news. Looked like the bulk of it was going to be to the South - Portland area. I've been expecting 5-7" - until I saw Chucks link. GOOD GOD. 24" or more? Went back and checked Weatherbug. Now it's showing snow for three days and nights. Maybe there'll be some money for Christmas, after all.

Also any camera on rt40 is the area were most all my accounts are. I am watching them all now at work to know when to call out my guys. Its now 242am.

I hear ya Seth we are not going to get any either.:( But the lake effect machine is turning on for tonight, maybe a couple inches hopefully.
OK Let me make this clear. Folks in Lake Effect areas DON'T get to complain about missing out on the once in a while snow storms the rest of us get. You all will get to gloat about tons of snow plenty more times while we all sit by idly dreaming about it. :geez :grinz plowing!

We got lucky the storm came a little more noth than they projected and we getting 6" today. Then lake effect is suppose to kick in later. Hey I know it is not what some of you are getting but it is better than nothing.
Whew! Well I think its finally stopping the accumulating part. Lots of blowing so I haven't been able to determine how much came down today, but it was quick & heavy at times. Haven't been to my sheltered lots yet to get a decent measurement, but we're guessing another 6"- 8" came down between 10:30 AM & 3:30 PM. Got to build a nice sledding mountain in the front yard with all of the snow from the neighbor's drive ways :D I got to play with them for a good hour, and got a solid 2.5 hour nap this morning, so overall a perfect snow weekend so far. Hopefully the equipment holds up through the night & hopefully my pillow will be holding my head by 6:00 AM tomorrow. Good luck to all who got more today also! Back to it.

Well, we got lucky and got some snow fromthe storm you guys were trying to hoard all to yourselves- LOL!!!
We got 4-6" depending on where you were- more to the south. I have a little cleanup to do later after my commercial accoutns close down. I looked at the local weather guessers and they are calling for all sorts of different things- so I will just play this one by ear. We might get a little lake effect if we get some wind in over Lake Ontario- but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Hope everyone make it in safe from the storm and that there were no major problems for anyone. Keep warm, get som erest, and then fill us all in!!

Pittsburgh ended up with between 4 and 6 inches, although some of my friends in the northern suburbs say they got 7 or 8. There was a great divergence of opinion among the forecasters on this one--depending on who you listened to the forecast was for anything between 3 and 10.
It seems awful quiet around here this morning. I believe this is the first time I've ever logged on to this site and found "1 member and 0 guests". Where are all you northeast and east coast guys?

At 5:00 when you posted this, I'd been up and running for eight hours with another 10 to go. We got between 12" and 16" by 7:00 this morning. Kept on falling all day, but only accumulated about 4". Supposed to be another 1"-3" by tomorrow morning. It's an absolute madhouse around here. I've turned down, for one reason or another, every call today and the guy who flagged me. Worst part now is blowing/drifting.

most of the NE guys have been getting lucky and getting the snow... the rest of us were dreaming about it coming :D
Well I think it finally stopped snowing. But even when that did finally happen early Sunday AM, the wind kicked up so it never seemed like it stopped. On Sunday afternoon I had to plow 3" of snow at one lot courtesy of the wind blowing it off of the roof :grinz I think we got around 18" total. Fun storm. It was cool to see on TWC that other areas were getting twice that out of the same storm as it moves along! And now there's even time for a nice long nap before the next salting shift, so things are good.

When this one is finished, then we'll start trying to reload for the next one LOL. One more salt run tonight then temps should be warm enough at night to not have to salt. Lots are not drying out yet. Then we have 1"-2" of rain coming for tomorrow night, which should make for a fun mess. So far the one for next week is looking like rain for this area, but snow north & east of here, so more fun to be had for many!!
