I've heard talk of a possible storm for the beginning of next week. Just wondering what others have heard. Not predictions on amounts yet and they aren't sure where the rain/snow line will be. They have also hinted about another storm to follow a couple of days later. Is this winters last stand? I'd like to see one more and then we can start mulching.

Too early to tell for the Connecticut area but i have noticed a lot of the local guys mentioning snow now.The weather boards seems to be flopping back and forth with every model. It Looks like it will be a close call between rain or snow or even a miss. I just hope for enough to get rid of some of my salt so i can have room to start getting my mowers ready to go.

The latest guess's seem to have the storm tracking further south than first thought. Which is better for me cause that will bring more cold air and more snow. I'm watching the weather boards like a hawk!

Here is Deldots weather lady's report from yesturday, we are scheduled to get another one later today I will post it as soon as I get it.
12 noon thursday February 17, 2005.
Lots of different stories about what will happen this weekend. Let me
add one more.
Right now the precipitation should start late sunday - probably around
dark - in the form of snow in NCC and mixed sleet and snow in Kent and
Sussex. Sussex will change to rain during the night. Kent changeover
toward dawn, and NCC changeover to all rain after daybreak monday.
Likely snow accumulations before the change to rain. Sussex, 1 to 2 inches.
Kent 2 to 3, NCC 3 to 6. Heavier accumulations in northern parts of the
counties.
This a a preliminary first look for planning purposes. The storm is
still 3 to 4 days in the future. More details such as temperatures on
friday.

1140 am friday 18 February 2005.
The snow/rain event for late sunday into monday is still near 3 days
away so this forecast is a best guess with only moderate confidence.
Snow beginning statewide late sunday night, possibly as early as 7 pm.
Sussex: Snow mixing with and changing to rain by midnight.
Accumulations around 1, possibly 2 inches before the changeover.
Kent. Snow mixing with sleet through much of the night and changing
over to all rain before dawn monday. Snow accumulations 2 to 3 inches.
NCC. Snow mixing with sleet thru most of the night and changing over to
rain after dawn on monday. Snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches.
What can go wrong with this forecast? The snow could change to rain
earlier and snow accumulations will be less. But, right now, my best
bet is keeping snow and sleet much of the night as above.

Accuweather has us in the 3-6 range. Noaa.gov says snow sunday, snow sunday night with moderate accumulations. Theres talk on one of the forums that theres a BIGGIE in the works for later next week. The word Nor' Easter was thrown around a little. Lets see what comes of it. I think we'll get some. Maybe 1-3. I'm really afraid that the rain is going to come faster then it needs to and that will hold accumulations down. ONE STORM AT A TIME!

Sucks for our customers here. It will snow like the ****ens Sunday night\Monday morning, then change to rain with highs in the 40's. I don't understand how one forecaster can say 1-2 inches, changing to freezing rain and sleet, and the next one says 4-8 inches all snow! I do find the worse they hype it up, the less we usually get. If we do go, it's #15, so just about time for it to start slowing down.

We had 1/2" down at 7:30 this morning and about 2" by noon. Backed off a little then really picked up after lunch. 2:30 pm I shoveled about 4" off my garage apron. It's a little after 5 pm and the wife and I just shoveled another 2 1/2" off. Still snowing and the local station is still predicting another 1 to 3 from Grand Rapids north.
We are about 20 miles north of GR. The city had only a dusting at noon today, so accumulations south of us aren't quite as heavy. The snow I pushed off at 2:30 was moderated in density. This last 2 1/2" felt like I was pushing wet cement. I feel qualified to make that evaluation, as I spent a summer moving wet cement many years ago.:D

Just spoke to my operations manager. Says 3"-4" in downtown Grand Rapids. After dealing with 6" to a foot at a time, this'll be no brainer. However, this system snow is alot heavier than that lake effect fluffy stuff. And those existing snowpiles are hard as cured cement.
Rain snow line isn't too far to our west, but moisture seems to be petering out. Just a soon it stays all snow.

Ray that is to funny. Cat yeah I would like to move up there or maybe just a log cabin and spend the winters up there! You never no. Once I get all the contracts in De. I will have to start looking for new turf!:D
Not only is WalMart a union-busting company, they are far from the family-friendly company they portray themselves. My son and his wife worked there for about seven years - following the company line and doing what they had to do to try to move up. He finally left after it cost him his family and marriage. He's driving a truck now. After two months, he's a whole lot better off than he was at WalMart.

that's the true example of "they don't make em like they used to"
my 97 is getting older, over 100k miles now, no problems, runs like a champ.

It's great that the older trucks are running so well . Be happy and dont say it to loud ! Dont want to activate the jinx
Jason ,
I know everytime I bought an expensive piece of equipment the immediate result was no snow  . Dont worry the law of averages is with us . But maybe moving up to New England would increase those averages :)

Got me a full run in and even hit a couple of places twice in order to clean up and move piles back from where the idiots left cars parked right in the middle of things .
I here something may be setting up for next week?????? even heard the word Nor'easter mentioned. but way too far off to be even 40% certain
If we are gonna get a nor easter I hope its the weekend of March 4th- 6th so I don't have to drive out to Minnesota!

CSM needed on register 25 for a price check!!
BTW, I think I want to change my job and be the one who puts together the bikes and patio furniture.
Thanks for the help dapgar! I had put him in my biggest lot which he had never seen before, and didn't need to do any fololow up or touch up plowing after he was done there. I've hired some strangers or put subs in those lots for the first time & some have left some real disasters for us to try to fix later, or just didn't get anywhere. Worked out great. Delaware boys, your turn is next (unless of course tonight's "inch or less" turns into what the impressive radar looks like). Here's dapgar's truck making piles.
