Why is this motor so darn expensive compared to a Western or Fisher???? I realize the shaft has some extra machining to it, but 3 times the price of the Western??? If you buy it through Fenner, it's only 35% the cost. I feel sorry for the Blizzard dealers who have to hit their customers for so much for this motor. Really like this plow, and working on it, but I got burned when I originally told the customer it was probably around 100.00 for a new motor.Oh well, just curious. Know the volume is not the same as other manufactures, but I swear I bought this same motor last year for a dump bon set-up for about $109.00. Thanks for listening to my rant of the day!!! JOHN

Check the part #'S from Fenner before buying motors.
Sno-Way did a good one years ago. Light duty version of this motor on the small plows and Heavy duty version on the Bigger plows. People were replacing them with Standard Fenner motors on the bigger plows and burning them right out.
I know the Blizzard motor is the Heavy version of the Spline drive and have been hard pressed to find a $100 range replacement for the heavy motor.

Thanks, guys!!!
I'm fixing this plow for a good customer, as we are not yet a Blizzard dealer. He called the dealer who he usually deals with, and got a price from him. I located a Fenner 1787*AC motor, which is the original Blizzard motor on therwe now, from the electic motor vendor I use for Meyer and Western. We will see how it works out, as I,ve had great success with the other motors.
Just FYI, when I seperated the motor from the pump, It had a Made in China sticker:headwall :usa

Funny ... I just found this thread right after having to replace my motor that was just over a year old (and just out of warrantee). Luckily there is a "snow maven" near me that runs a 24 hr shop during storms. He sells Hiniker ... well what do you know ... Hiniker, Western, and Boss all seem to use the same exact motors as Blizzard ... an SPX "Fluid Power" 1787AC made in China.
Since he had to take that one off a new Hiniker and put it mine to get me going again, it cost me $250 for everything, having the old one rebuilt for $100, and found HD replacements from DBelectrical online for $79 + $10 S/H.
