Stopped at the newholland dealer yesterday and they had the LS185 in stock. I really liked it. Anybody have one? They guy told me that this model is perfect for snowplowing and landscaping and grading. Any feedback on them. I really want to make a purchase on a skid steer this spring. I also like the john deeres but havent looked into them. Thanks guys!

I can tell you that I have an LS 160, and absolutely love it to death. I wish I had gotten a bigger unit, but it is what it is. I am able to load and unload my nursery stock, easily load f 700 and f 800 dump trucks, stack stone, topsoil, mulch, bulk salt etc. It will [pick up the back of my f450 with the salter in it loaded (just enough to move it when I am to lazy to get out of the skidsteer and into the truck and back into the skidsteer, it stacks snow a good 10', handles my harley rake without a problem, I have a rock bucket that I use to actually sort material and so forth. All in all, I absolutely love the machine. If I could justify it (other than wnating a new toy) I would buy another in a heart beat, but this time I would go to the 190, just because I like the big toys.

I like the New Holland's a lot better than the John Deere's ................

I feel that they are a lot more comfortable to the user...........

We are running an LS 180 Turbo........

Didn't know they made an Ls185

I have a Lx665 turbo which is the Ls170

Mine does most of what I need, but a bigger unit with more lift capacity ia always helpfull.

I have a Bobcat 873 or S250 on either side of me, so bigger stuff can be moved.

Oh in 5 years New Holland wont exsist anymore as Case owns them.

I have a LS190 and love it. it has so much power compared to my Bobcat 863 and 743's It maybe gone soon however, I really need to get a tracked machine. Most likely a T300

The Ls190 is a big machine, more like the Bobcat 900 series with 100hp engines.

Evryone here keeps giving this advice, but every dealer, especially mine, says DO NOT RUN THEM IN HIGH GEAR FOR PLOWING. My dealer has a coronary every time a person brings it up. I heard him one time tell his shop foreman not to warranty a job, for it was the third time they fixed the trans on that machine and New Holland wasn't going to reimburse him.

Unless New Holland has made updates to the machine in the past year or so, it's an antique compared to more modern machines. My friend has a 190 and I've used it, don't like it at all.

The safety interlock system is very tough to use, the drive motors are SUPER noisy and it will lift a bucket of item 4 only to 3/4 full height. The controls are stiff and awkward, there's only a hand throttle, and no foot pedal.

I'd look at machines with pilot controls, they're so much easier to operate. Bobcat, Case and Cat offer these. Once you run a machine with pilot controls you'll find it hard to go back to standard controls.

The shop picked one up this year. I have to agree with Pelican 100%

They are having a problem with a lift arm shudder also and have a case folder on it.
When it has a fit it shakes your teeth. Controls are touchy and stiff. Seating position to run the foot controls just doesn't feel comfortable enough.

Thats funny that you say that the New Holland is uncomfortable to you as far as the foot controls..............I felt just the opposite about the New Holland and feel that the John Deere has an uncomfortable foot control setup with the way that the floor board juts out at a 90° angle in such a way that it digs into your calves.................

Sorry but i haven't run a deere to compare. If i get the seat where i don't have to really reach for the steering handles my ankles seem to be angled enough that it feels like i'm really forcing my heels down beyond a comfortable angle. It would be really great to have adjustable pedals and handles to customize for yourself.. If your going to be in one for hours you might as well have it fit to you. I am getting use to it or else my ankles are loosening up a little.. LOL

Nice. The place I went to the other day (payline west) Had about ten 185 B's in stock. And man are they NICE! The new holland the guy told me is the most widely used landscaping skid steer. With case being second. The guy priced it out to me for $31,400+tax.
I have to sell my ford plow truck and bronco and boats first and get a nice down payment. The dealer also said to me if im going to be doing snow removal, to get the 2 speed!
