Here's a trailer I am currently working on. Two pics of me ripping the old rotted deck off, and 2 of where I am at now. I got all new LED's for it today, as well as the new lumber. Hopefully I will get it all finished by tomorrow. ;)

I just started a simliar project. I am doing some suspension and axle work as well. Then a new deck, d-rings and hopefully a toolbox on the tongue. Wanted to use the warm weather to blast and prime it but ran out of time.

wow!, sweet rig. great rebuild! :)
the DOT tape sure makes them stand out

What's the axle capacity? GVWR? Length of bed?

I'm starting to look into trailers myself, and a big concern is the width. So many are just 6' 6" others claim 82" and I saw one at 102". What's the width on this one? What sorts of vehicles will it handle? truck, skidsteer, tractor ?

Thanks,

Did one last week, still have to paint it.

New jack, fenders, D rings, and wood.

Thanks, Those are 5,000# axels, now the sping cap is another story.

74-76" usable space width is common in utility.

82" max width will make the wheels out to 102", to go wider you need a deck over.

102" wide, you need to have the 3 dot lights in the center. If your wheels go over 96" wide you need to 3 dot lights.

Nice Job!! Looks good. LGF I have seen them mobile home axles with the single springs rated at 6000# each. Maybe there are lighter axles also?

Never the less, look at what the tires are rated for.

I have the 5000# axels with 8ply tires rated at 2470# at 70psi each tire.

Great Job! Looks brand new. About how many hours do you have into it?

I was looking at a used trailer and it was still in pretty good shape, but I think I would strip it down and start over just for my own peace of mind, knowing that everything is new.

I worked on it on and off for a couple of weeks. All in all I would say 4 full days, maybe 4 1/2 days tops. Stuff like this I just park in the yard and do it over the course of the winter months. Kinda keeps me busy between plowing. So far this is my 2nd trailer this year. I am also painting 3 trucks as well.

The way I see it is why should I spend the money on new, if I have time to put into a used one and customize it how I want? The end result is a trailer that specifically meets my needs, for less than what I can buy one new, that I would end up customizing anyway.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys! :burnout

Very nice job you did! I must say it looks better than new, because the new ones around here are all faded black. The DOT tape looks great too.
