For various reasons (chiefly they're the only dealer within a hundred miles) I'm in the market for a sno-way for my jeep. Is lexan or metal preferred (I can't tell from the website whether metal is an option or not. I'd like to keep weight down)? Is a light kit that necessary (I could mount lights up on the windshield)? What's the going $ for the ST 80 new? What are chances of finding a used one or is that not the way to go? Already been convinced to do a 'wired' controller from posts here. Any other considerations I should be thinking of? I'll be using this for non-commercial work (our driveway and some ocasional plowing of the subdivision). Heck yeah I'm a newbie!

You can have a Lexan, Mild Steel, or Stainless Steel moldboard. Lexan is the lightest. For what you describe it should be fine. Keep it waxed.
As for lights, the light rack is attached to the plow frame. Use it. Lights up top can create visibility issues in blowing snow and fog.
As for the wireless controller, don't be scared of it. Very handy. We always ran the wired one as a backup. (redundancy is a good thing)
There are plows a plenty. I'd buy a year-end clearance new plow over a used one, but keep an eye on the for sale section of this site.

I have a 6'8" lexan Snoway that was on a Jeep. I have the blade A-frame and powerpack only.
I'd let it go pretty cheap, PM me if interested.
I'm in Iowa, real close to I-80/35.
