I didn't realize.. until someone else pointed it out.. that a piece of the edge was broken on my Boss V plow. Is there somewhere online that I can purchase new edges that would be a decent savings over a not so local retailer? What should new edges cost me?

Also.. it seems to me that the gap between the left and right edge is more than is necessary. Why is that? Couldn't they make it so it were a little closer?

Are the center shoes more trouble then they're worth?

I have a nice set of steel and BRAND NEW Urethane for 8.2' BOSS V's.

That won't help you though. :(

center shoes are the only really bad part of my boss V. i've had ok luck this year, but not really many storms to plow on. i put a brand new one on just before this last big storm, and it looks pretty worn by now. stone driveways beat up the shoes bad. if all you do is paved, then you'll be better off. still not great, but it'll last longer. i do about 2/3 paved and 1/3 stoners. i wish i could convince the stoners to pave their driveways, i like them as customers, they always pay, and they are big driveways.

Jerre suggested to me that a 20" long piece of urethane between the gap in the middle would solve the center shoe problem. i think it can be bolted along with the cutting edge. just need longer bolts. i haven't seen any like this. but i think it would be a good idea. i bought two new shoes for this season, and i've only used one so far. no need for me to buy this U edge piece for the center just yet. maybe next year. as long as it flexes enough to V and also to scoop then it sounds like a really good Fix.

By the time you pay for shipping how much will you have saved by buying over the internet/mail order? It also might be worth supporting your local dealer for a few extra dollars. The money they make on the parts you buy from them might come in handy when you need that service on the plow and they remember that you buy parts and get your plow serviced by them. If your dealer is a crumudgin - then I guess it doesn't matter.
