The lights quit working on my Western unimount leaving me with just the truck lights. When I plug the harness in, the lights on the truck go out and I hear what I assume is the relay clicking but no plow lights. I've got power from the truck side of the harness but no power at the lamp. I hooked a jumper from the truck side of the harness directly to the light and all I get is the same click. The parking lights work fine. Is there a separate ground for the headlights? I tried to download the diagram from the Western site but my computer is giving me problems.

Check all grounds. And make sure there is power to the relay i think it is the brown wire. which is from the park lamps on the truck side. If all is good the realy or both should be replaced.

If you hear the relay click, then you have power to the relay coil, and it's being grounded through the grille connectors.
There is no separate ground for the headlamps. It uses the same ground for the parking lamps, and relay control,so we know it should be good,as they work.
Do you have high beams ? Are the bulbs good in the plow lights ? Pull them out and check for power right at the plow lamps,on the blue\orange wires.Check the bullet connector where the grounds are teed\crimped together in the headlamp housing.
If you have no power on the blue\orange wires, then you may have a bad relay,or wiring to\from it.Make sure all the female spades are clean, and plugged in at the relay.Sometimes they get pulled off.The low beam input wire is usually yellow. If you had high beams in the previous test, then swap the two relays, and it should give you low beams if the relay is bad.

Check the bulbs!
It is a pretty simple system, if the relay is clicking and your truck light go out, you should be getting power up there.
Make sure the ground is good.
If that doesn't work check for broken pins in the connector or a bad wire, but this would surprise me.

No lights either bright or dim. There is no power at the bulb. I do have power at the female end of the plug (truck side) I jumpered from there to the bulb itself and still the lights would not come on. I could hear the relay clicking though. That's what is confusing to me. I did try my spare headlamp with no luck either when I tried to jumper it. I'm gonna clean all the connections to the relay and see if that will help. I'll check the ground at the bullet connection too. The problem started with no dim lights, then no brights either.

If you have power at the truckside grille connector, then your problem is on the plow side.If you jumped it from there to the light, then your problem is bad bulbs,or bad ground. The ground comes off the headlight plug, and is crimped into a bullet connector with the running lamp ground. If you have running lamps, you ground should be good,so you may have a broken wire right at the crimp, which does happen.
Are you sure you jumpered it correctly ? Was the other grille connector plugged in ? It must be for the ground side.

This morning the brights decided to work but no dims. I replaced the relay for the dims and everything is working at this point. I bought an extra relay for the toolbox. What I was getting confused by was the power at the plug side of the truck. I mistaked the power to the relay for the lights.
I got it figured out now. Thanks for all the help.
