I picked up a new Boss 9'2" Vee. Seeing that all Boss's have the same mounts and are easy as heck to steal (21 gone in the last 3 weeks) has anyone came up with some type of lock for these things when they are off the truck ?

i don't have to worry about mine getting stolen, but i can imagine that there is someway to lock the plow hook up using heavy duty cable and a few locks in places that would be hard to access to cut.
at least to deter someone from just pulling up and driving off in a few seconds. if they have to get somehting out to cut or torch etc. they won't want to do it.
what area are you in that they are stealing that many plows?

Buffalo area. Not all 21 were Boss's, but it's still sick to hear about it. They are taking some off trucks, but mainly the ones sitting in driveways and around shops.
Some of them were caught on tape loading plows onto trailers (10 guys picking them up), but the tape was to dark to get a good enough view to catch them. They even had the ba!!s to come back for more in the same nite.
The newest and hottest thing to steal are handheld controllers. Boss-Western-Fisher over 17 gone in the last week. 1 guy I heard about was at the gas station went in to pay, got back in his truck and no controller.
I went today with the loader and surrounded everything at the shop with a 25' wall off snow.

John, I got the Boss yesterday and haven't used it yet. I didn't want to buy a new plow 1/2 way through the season but I couldn't pass on the deal. I was going to leave the sno-way on till the end, but decided to run the Boss.
I just have no use for the down pressure anymore, since we are running backplows on all the trucks. If I don't sell it (sno-way) I'll put it on the next truck.

Guys,
I just think it takes b@lls to walk up to a truck at a gas station and the owner is inside and walk off with the controller... ...
I will admit mine are not that big... ( I can hear some comments on that one)
but it does suck that we have to now worry about who is watching out trucks while even getting fuel.
10 guys getting plows.. humm sounds like a bit organized and also b@llsy....

I got it figured out and it works too. I took 2 padlocks and put them through, the holes where the pins lock in. Now they either have to lift it up or cut the locks off, but seeing it's in front of my garage and my neighbor is home all day (with a nice gun) that will never happen.
Western, the plow is sold

My truck stays running 24\7 when we are out,but the doors are always locked when I get out.I carry another set of keys on my belt at all times. They could break the window if they wanted, but most theives want it to be quick and quiet, and won't bother if it's locked.
I have had plow lights stolen off a running truck, but that's another story.
Someone (BOSS) should make some sort of lockable device that prevents hitching up to it.
Though, it takes me 5-6 stabs at it to line everything up. I've only installed it 4 times though. With no "hard lines" on the hood to aim with, it's hard to get a "feel" for how centered I am. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the groove, then I get out, and find out I'm 5" to the left
The best defense against theft is to leave it attached.
The older RT-II had a nice padlock-able engagement lever. You could lock it when you parked it and no-one would be able to hook up to it.....Then again, back then BOSS's weren't all that popular (I was lucky to see one or two ....ever!) Now, they're everywhere.....and lots more straight than Vee.

Make up a wooden guide that fits around your left front wheel.2X4's will work.Nail it down, and just drive into it when you drop the plow. When you hook up,drive right back into it again, and your lined up.

I took a paint pen and marked a small dot on my bugshield and the plow light.

I too am from Western Ny ( YOUNGSTOWN NY) and have a new BOSS. I did the same as you did.2 HD Masterlocks thru the holes + I run a Kryptonite HD cable and lock thru the Aframe of my travel trailer. Its still here! But no matter what you do, if they want it bad enough they will do whatever to try and get it! Scumbags all over the place! Good Luck with the new plow. I have had mine a few months and it puts my old Meyers To shame.Like you I have a new Chev and its frustrating at times trying to align it up but its alot easier than the old style pins where you had to lift-pull-tug to put it on.
