We're looking at purchasing a package dealer from a landscape construction company - truck, trailer, skid steer, implements, etc..

Question: what is the track record like for the International 4700 series trucks?

This truck has approx 40 000kms or 25 000miles. Engine is a DT466E, tranny is an automatic, chassis is a single axle with hydraulic brakes and a dump box. Looks to be a good solid unit but one can never be too sure.

Synner,

The International is a good truck... just sold my 4900 last month... The truck your looking at sound like a under cdl truck. Lacking the air brakes, do you plan on moving any heavier pieces of equipment?

As far as the DT466.. good strong motor... I peronally don't care for the auto on the truck.. I like a 7 speed or 2 speed rear end ... by auto is fine...

25, 000 miles is nothing to that truck.. sold mine with 203K on it and it was good for that and more ...

What weight trailer and what skid steer are you pulling? Do you have a backhoe to pull or plan on it...

I don't think you will have any problems with that setup. Occassionally you may be wishing you had a manual when you are really loaded, but the auto still should be ok. Those trucks are pretty stout for a medium duty. Easy to get parts for and very driveable IMO.

I have a 91 International 4900, hydraulic brakes with the DT466 and a six speed. I love this truck and would buy another one in a second. The motor is great, mine has 350,000 km on it and runs great. Also it's very easy to get parts for and reasonably cheap to fix.

Here's a pic of mine. It's used for my "day job" of trucking hay and straw.

Wow, I have seen some loaded hay trucks before but that load is pretty impressive.

Thanks. That's the max load for that truck, 340 bales.

That truck is great for an under CDL truck...

Why do you see so many as tow trucks.

466 is a great engine.

I have 4700's and 4900 great trucks.
