I'm going to service the tranny in my truck, its a 99 suburban 2500,7.4 liter with what I beleive is a 4L80E trans. My question is there a drain for the torque converter?I hate to remove the big aluminum inspection cover to check because it looks like a pain.Has anyone with a 4L80E checked or I'm sure Chris has done one or has access to info to find out. Thanks in advance.

I don not think there is a plug in the torque converter. I would recommend putting a drain plug in the pan that way you don't have to take a tranny fluid bath. LOL I just drilled a hole in the pan while it was on the truck, but be careful.

The pan already has a drain,I just figured it would be nice to drain the converter too.

I don't think they have a drain on those trucks.

Adding a drain plug to the pan is a great idea,so you don't have the mess when changinf fluid next time.
