I have a 1979 chevy K-10 I would like to convert it to EFI at a minimal cost I would like to get the parts at junkyard all except the fuel pump it would have to inline, My main question is will the wireing harness plug into my firewall with any modifications? Has anyone else done this any input wolud help.

IMO,unless you know all the interchanges, your much better off to start with a complete running donor truck. Swap the engine in and all the harness/sensors from the other truck. You will have to do some work at the 15 pin connector on the pass side inside the truck, plan on getting a helm shop manual and doing some reading before you tackle this. You can just leave the trans connector dangling in most cases, but the ecm is going to want to see a VSS signal somehow. If your going to scrouge bits and pieces from the wrecking yard, and put them on all at once, good luck, you almost always run into a problem.Even fitting a later efi intake manifold to your truck presents some fit problems,at the exhaust crossover area. Holly used to sell a TBI system,my brother had one,I cannot recommend it though,to many bugs in the system. My thoughts are get a new carb, and have the truck tuned by someone knowledgable and leave it at that.

Find an '87 pickup or an '87-91 Jimmy, Blazer, or 'Burban parts truck. Swap it all. Everything bolts in (except for the computer mount above the glove box, some fancy torch work was necessary).
We recently did the swap into my '82. I'd say it would be a little intimidating for the beginner, but very doable if you are stubborn (like me).
Do a search in the 73-87 truck forum for '383 swap' and you should find a link of mine with a bunch of photographs etc. that will interest you.

I am stuborn and if you tell I can't do something I'm gonna try anyways to prove it to myself. I looked up your old thread but I couldn't get the links to come up. thanks for the info I will make it work after I find the right doner truck.

Holley used to make a stand alone throttle body EFI system, Summit racing sold it, my brother had it on his Camaro,it worked decent,he even bought the oxygen sensor and made it a closed loop system for better economy and emissions. it was pretty cheap under 700 bucks complete. If you cant find a donor truck or want it easier this will work, although the Gm system has more functions, and is a more precise system IMO.
