View Full Version : Fluid on Pump Motor

I have an 8' Minute Mount 2 plow that I bought with my new truck last March. Since it never snowed at the end of last season, I only started using it this season, at the very end of December when it finally snowed around here.

After plowing, there is always some spilled fluid on the pump motor and A-frame. It's not a large amount--I check the level and it remains full, but I don't know where it's coming from, or if it's normal.

Does this come out of the breather assembly? Is that what the breather is for, to release excess pressure or something? My old MM 1 didn't have the breather thing, so this is new for me.

The plow seems to work just fine (though a bit slow in the negative and single-digit temps we've had all this month--regular ATF installed by the dealer), but I'd like to figure out if this is normal or not.

Thanks!

Tim

Not normal. The seals on some are coming thru bad from the factory,i've done 4 this year,it's a $3 part and is most certainly covered under warranty so bring it back.

I would also have them put the Fisher blue fluid in. It will make a difference especially in the extreme colder weather we've been having. IMO...

Never heard of Fisher "blue Fluid" but Fisher does have an excellent fluid that will out preform ATF at low temps. Also you might try Full Synethic Dextron ATF. It doesn't have the anti-icing properties of the Fisher fluid advertises, and is only a little cheaper, but will be a lot faster at low temps plowing then regular ATF. There is a low-temp blue fluid availible, I think Meyers used it. I know with my V-plow I would experience fluid blowing out the vent went the return line ,from the releif valve blew off inside the reservoir.

I just changed to Genuine Fisher fluid in all our plows, and yes it's blue. BTW, it does work better in the extreme cold.

Don, what seal are you finding bad? O-ring under the motor or seal at pump going into valve block? Havent seen this one yet but had a sub call about it.
