Just kinda in a bind, what kind of fluid can i use other than the sno way fluid. ATF/Hyd please help.
I run synthetic ATF in mine and regular ATF (Dexron) if nothing else is available. Never had any problems and the oldest one is on its 11th season now.

My NAPA dealer always has snowplow (cold weather) ATF fluid on hand. As long as it's #5606 compatable, which is standard ATF it'll be fine.
FYI, after making my 8' older snoway into a 9 footer (extensions), it still went through this last storm (NJ) of about 13" like nothing.

Synthetic ATF here too in all the Snoways.Been using it for years, and no problems. The Univis oil is just too expensive.

ATF dextron/mercon fluid or Low temp hydraulic. Meyers blue, western low temp, Fisher low temp, Blizzard or boss oil will all run in you pump.
Do not use TYPE F ATF. it has wear additives that will damage the system.
Low temp oils will run better with lower amp draw than ATF.

Getting ready to get ready and part of that is changing my plow's hydraulic oil.
Wyldman you say you use synthetic atf I found the price to only be a few cents different than OEM. What is your source??

Wal-mart is the cheapest for synthetic ATF here. It's less than half the price of Snoway OEM fluid.

I use AW 32 hydraulic fluid in all of my plows Boss, Hiniker, Western, even in a snoway I use to own. Atf is to thick when the temps drop below -O When I use ATF and it's time to clean the filter, there is a waxy build up on it, after I started useing the AW no more waxy build up.
