I run a BOSS plow and i can not keep the lights up at all...i set them before i go out and tighten them up good but 1 mile down the road they are pointing down 2 feet infront of the plow...the design is dumb and does not allow them to sit right....
does anyone else have this problem...and if so how do you fix it...
please be specific (ie: for dummys)
i have 1 day to fix this before this huge storm hits the Philly area...thanks :headwall

Which style headlights are they, the older single mounting post or the new twin post Smartlight style?

They must be the older style lights. The new ones are very solid.

We're having this same problem right now with plows that are about 3 years old. I'm afraid to touch the older plows (versus brand new ones) to adjust the beam for fear they will never tighten again. Yes the design is better than the single post/bolt style found on most headlights. But the same principal for how the headlight is mounted and tightened is the same as all other plows with the flat/carriage style bolt coming from the headlight which is inaccessible to hold/tighten.
Two thoughts to remedy this. One, what about tightening a nut up against the bottom of the light holding the bolt in the metal shrowd (spellling?) and then you have something to tighten against. This will make the headlights sit slightly higher off the headlight bar - but might work. Second idea... drill the two holes through the plastic headlight assembly and place a new bolt through the headlight until to tighten down against. You'd have to silicone the living heck out of the inside/outside holes to make sure the lamp assembly remains sealed.
I'd like to know what others have done as well and found successful.

Try using a chunk of 1/2" thick rubber under the lights. I had a cheap set of aftermarket lights that came with it, and they never moved on me. While the price was cheap, I don't think the lights were. They were Grote. Made in :canada :D

i have the newer two posted lights on my bossV and they still go out of adjustment during plowing. it's a pain. i carry a 3/4 wrench on my front seat just to get out sometimes and fix them. when i'm back on the road, it's up and Ved. i just use the truck lights. they are better anyways. i normally only use the plow lights when i'm plowing. a friend of mine has the same plow. he never uses the plow lights.
i might try using some locktight on mine next time i adjust them. or putting a second nut under the current one to tighten against.

I've never had any problem with the new style lights. Those things are solid in place. I have the problem with older plows, and what I normally do is adjust them, and tack weld the bolts onto the adjuster cups under the light. What happens after a while is when you try and tighten the bolt, it just spins freely. By tacking it, you can tighten them up again. Just make sure they are aligned right, or you'll have fun trying to break the welds. :)
