Since everyone is planning on or having some kind of get together I'm thinking we should have one.
My thinking is it should be inside 495 just for logistics since we seem to be (mostly) scattered all over the eastern half of the state. I know we have a hooters shortage in this state :shades but we could meet up for some food and maybe shoot some pool along with some BS :D
Any one have any ideas as to where and when?
gordyo
12-01-2003, 05:40 PM
How about the Krispie Kreme near you!! I am still looking for an excuse to get there. Probably no pool table though. LOL
My brother keeps telling me about some restraunt near him called Tony Floramo's or something like that were the Meat falls of the bone. Is that place any good??
Plow Dak
12-01-2003, 05:50 PM
Close enough the boys from Maine could shoot down. Sounds interesting but holidays are around the corner.. What exit along 495 are you thinking of JD ???

Jeff I'll buy you some Kreme's and come up there :D I think Tony Floramos might be okay but the parking lot isn't all that big particularly when plow trucks get parked in it.
Plow Dak when I say 495 I mean't anywhere off of or east of 495 and that road goes all the way to the cape, so I'm just putting out some suggestions. If anyone has an idea as to where we could meet please post.
One place that might be a little hard to find for some but could definitely accommodate us is Good Time Billiards in Somerville (yes isn't that convenient for me:p ) but I am open toany suggestions people have.

The Krispie Kreme is in Medford I think. There is a Cracker Barrell off of 495 just before you get to Lowell. That might work for everyone.

Gordyo soon as i get the new alternator put back in my truck i'll try to get up there. We have been so busy when we were up there I didn't have time to brake away to see you, hopefully soon .Goodtimes wood be ok Hooter's here would be a pain to get to on friend st plus the parking.

Something right off 495 would be a lot better I.M.A. As long as it's not in Lowell.. Bad memories there..

I don't have a when, but some ideas of areas. Both Rte. 1 in the Dedham, Norwood-Westwood area or Rte. 9 Natick-Framingham both have a bunch of restaurants with big lots.

Hey Guys!
Count me in! i'm always up for some BSing :D
i vote for Framingham/Natick area. maybe John Harvards?
there's a ton of other places too. seems easy enough for everyone to get to.
there's even some hotel/motels that our friends from maine could stay in (assuming there would be beverage consumption)
There's also a nice little local pub I frequent in Hopkinton thats 2mi off the RT85 exit (495) lots of parking and cheap beer! :drinkup

Hey there is a fridays,a mexican place and a few other resterasunts in Woburn all right off rt 128.
drobson
12-02-2003, 11:24 AM
Count me in too. Anywhere is ok for me. Cat I like the idea of Woburn (for me anyways). But your right, plenty of places right off 128, and north side of 128 would be convenient for ME and NH folks. Good times wouldn't be too bad either, haven't been there in awhile, but I seem to remember that it gets very crowded and the parking is somewhat limited in their lot. JD, do they still let you park in the lots accross the street?
Got Snow?
12-02-2003, 02:01 PM
how about F1 in braintree? too far? but what a blast that would be!
JD PLOWER
12-02-2003, 02:27 PM
Got Snow thats a cool idea but it is a little expensive and some people might just want buy some beer and food and shoot the shizzle :p
I think something in the area that has been outlined (route 3 down to 95) might be a good place to start thinking about where to meet. Also keep in mind that only 8 of us have posted to this thread and I know we have alot more than 8 people who live near us (eastern Mass) so I think we should try to promote this idea a little longer before we settle on an exact location. I have posted about this idea on "another" site so I hope to attract even more interest.
Got Snow?
12-02-2003, 03:55 PM
excellent! this will bring it to the top!
i'm in no rush. it would be great to get ALOT of guys(gals) together.
what day of the week are we thinking?
Plow Dak
12-03-2003, 03:19 PM
I think travel time is the issue of sorts to finding a place. I'm sure there are lots of good places to get together wherever we decide to do it. Myself personally it takes me exactly one hour to hit the 95/495 turn from Maine. I'm not sure how long it takes the Southern people to head north...Wherever you decide to meet i'm almost sure i've never heard of it..LOL. So it will be an added treat.
JD PLOWER

My thinking is we should throw out some names and places along with dates and see how the response is. Also if you know sombody that might want to go but doesn't really know this website then please tell them about this. I'll say something in the Burlington area might be good since they do have a fair amount of places to eat and meet. Maybe before the holidays on a Sunday (pats game?) since Saturdays seem pretty hard to have free this time of year. Any one else?
Plow Dak
12-03-2003, 04:56 PM
Burlington area is doable for me. All depends on the weekend. I'm sure i have one other that would come with me. I'm just wondering about before the holidays when so many are running around. I'm sure it's crunch time. The only thing to do is agree on a place first (in my opinion). Then throw out a date and see about the reponse. I agree a Sunday might be the better of the two days.
cat320
12-03-2003, 05:59 PM
Yea burlington would probably be good for most every one as it's at 128 and rt 3
drobson
12-03-2003, 06:18 PM
Burlington sounds good to me. Not too sure if we will be able to get this in before the holidays though, at least not before Xmas. Time is running out and I have yet to begin shopping. But I'm game for almost any day, Saturdays would actually be better for me, but I'm sure I can free up a sunday if needed.

JD PLOWER
12-26-2003, 02:28 PM
Well with the Holiday season winding down it might be a good time to start planning a meet. I figure the best thing to do is nominate at least a place and possibly a date/time, then we vote on it. I'll nominate Burlington for it's access to main highways and it has plenty of places to meet with good parking. As far a time goes I'd think if we can find out the Pats post season schedule I say if possible we meet on that day. Any weekend day is probably ok for me but I think we should keep it flexible for now.
So any votes for Burlington?
What about a day? Saturday? Sunday?

Ok...
As if nobody knows, People on this site work dam hard, and long.
Free time is little and far between. There are only so many days and time in the week. With the different schedules everyone has it's going to be nearly impossible to get THE DATE that everyone can attend. I don't have an answer but it's important to all that want to can... The only thing i can possibly think of is to have TWO ???? and alternate between Sat. and Sun. I don't know..i do know that EVERYONE deserves that get together....

Ok Seems like the 17th is a good day.
Now the next question is WHERE ?????
IMO a good size parking lot is a plus in case someone close is going to pop in with some equipment. Then we can kinda filter over to the area and park.
Oh yea, how are we going to know who is who when they walk in the door. Yell out "HEY WERE'S THE SNOW"?? LOL

I know theres a chillis up there but I don't remember the size of the bar area, and thats the most important part of any get together ;)
I'll try and get up there soon to scout some things out.
Maybe we should decide on a time and work that into the location planning. My suggestion would be around 2 in the afternoon. Since the bar area will probably have more seats available around that time and people can come and go as they like.
cat320
01-01-2004, 10:54 AM

JD's going up to burlington to Chili's to scope it out.
Hopefully, the place will be large enough for our purpose.
If not we'll have to come with another place.
BWhite can give us some info on Matthews and let us make a decision on the locations.
I think we all agree the 17th

2 weeks to go...:p
JD PLOWER
01-03-2004, 12:33 PM
Plow dak do you know what kind of bar Matthews is :shades
The parking up at Chillis is pretty good and they have a reserve lot up behind it. It belongs to the movie theater but on a Saturday afternoon I don't think that we should have too many problems parking there, but that will depend on how many we have going.

If the people that live in the area wanna bring some equipment by all means i'd love to see some..I don't think it would be necessary to try to run equipment 50 miles IMO
What we really need now is accurate directions from the major highways. You know, exit numbers and street names and milage.
Or what else would work ok too is the actual address of the place. Then everyone can look it up with a map program..Just a thought.
Don't forget the cameras...

It's exit 32 3A Middlesex Turnpike.
If coming from the North take exit and go right at bottom of ramp at set of lights take a left and Chilli's is right there.
If coming from the south take exit, do not get on rt 3 North, come off highway stay to right go under 128 and at 2nd lights take a left and Chilli's is there.

yeah Winn St. is 2 exits back. You can also take the mall exit (33b) if your coming from the north and at the end of the exit just go straight. Follow Mall road all the way to end and take left and Chillis' is on the right. But Winn St. is the one before 33b, that is too soon.

I am going to try and stop by for a short time. Not sure if it will be possible, my mother is in the hospital and it depends on her schedule for tests. If time permits I will stop by.
