Clutch problem

Picked up a used swenson 8' v-box spreader with a 8.5 briggs, and everything works fine except the eletric clutch does not seem to engage. Does anyone know how I can test it other than flipping the switch to see if it engages prior to spending the $150 for a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the ground wire is clean and grounded then run a hot wire from a 12 volt source to the positive wire on the clutch and you should be able to hear it click when it engages.

I just bought a new Swenson with the 11HP Honda engine, just wondering how old is the used Swenson you picked up and what kind of condition is it in????

Ray and I are working on the unit together. The unit is 4 years old with the 8.5 briggs engine. The lutch has a bolt holding it down onto the shaft, the bolt keeps breaking. What we would like is a pic of the clutch assembly angling down from the top. We dont hink that the way we bought it, is the way it is supposed to be. Thanks Dino and Ray
