I lost my first transmission the day before Thanksgiving. Got it rebuilt, and everything seemed fine. I had 50 hours of plow time in December, and the temp never got over 140. This made me realize that there were underlying problems with the orginal tranny, as the last two years the temps would stay around 180-190.

I got out for the storm yesterday, had 3 hours in, and the tranny started acting up. The temp started climbing, and finally got to 185. In reverse it acted like it was in 4-lo, even though it was in 2 wheel drive. Started heading back to town, had problems with it shifting out of first, and could not get it to shift out of 2nd. Called the shop that did the rebuild, and they came and picked it up on a flatbed yesterday afternoon. Hopefully it will be back in a couple of days. It will be interesting to see what was wrong with it, I had under 1000 miles on the rebuilt tranny. I guess this is just not going to be my year again.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

We see this stuff all the time. The trans shop probably just rebuild it,and never looked for the cause of the problem.Either that,or they did something wrong. They should take care of it under warranty for you.

If this is on your F350 you have the 4R100 trans. It is not a simple trans to rebuild, and there are several updates to do on it. Most trans shops just do a "out of the box"rebuild and that hope it makes it through the warranty. This is especially true of PSD trucks. A real good rebuild on one of there trannies runs at least $2500. PM me if you still have problems I can point you in the right direction for some very good trans shops.
