Just got done installing a 8.5 Hiniker plow on a 3500 chevy. Everything works good except,,,,,, it will not angle to the right?
It angled to the left ,up and down but will not go back to the right. Any suggestions as what the problem could be? The dealer is closed and we are expecting a plowable snow overnight.
Needless to say he should have bought an 810!!! HeHe
Thanks for your help

djd, just looking through my Hiniker tech sheets,

first thing it lists is low hydraulic fluid or hydraulic fluid leak,

second, check for proper operation of solenoids. The solenoid that extends the left side of the plow/angles to the right, is the solenoid mounted above the oil reservoir on the pump, it should be powered by a tan coloured wire connected with a spade terminal. Hope this helps.

Synner,,,,

Thanks for your help (saved me alot of trouble),, it was the wire on the solenoid. It was connected but not good enough. I am not to crazy about these connections. Should I squeeze them tight with pliers?? Or do you have a better suggestion?
Thanks again Synner,, very much appreciated

glad I could help, I thought those connections looked a little wimpy myself but with 2 units and lots of use I've yet to have one come loose. Best of luck with the plow, did you get the poly or steel?

cheers

Got a steel unit, 8.5 . It seems like a well built plow except a few minor things I have noticed compared to the 810. I was actually going to get 2 Hinikers, but when I got on here,, (reading everything ) the Blizzard had to be the choice for one of the trucks.
I only plowed once this season so far, and loved the 810. Our local dealer gave us a great deal on the Hiniker,,, couldn't be happier with the price,, just hoping not to have problems with it.
Have your Hinikers gave you any glitches yet?? Anything I should watch out for?
I will let them connections go for now and being you haven't had a problem with them,, I feel better about it.
Oh,, are you running steel edges on your plows or did you switch to rubber,,, urethane? Thinking about getting an urethane edge for it being that we have alot of concrete driveways.
Thanks again Synner

no urethane, still running the steel edges. may put a urethane on one next season - lots of paving stone driveways.

no glitches or problems, only thing we had to do was remember to collapse the lift cylinder when removing the blade, first couple of times were interesting.

the dealer told me the only problem he's had in the past year or so was guys plowing in snow storms with the window down and the controller in their left hand - controller gets snow covered, warms up and becomes full of water, parts corrode and the plow starts moving/acting up on its own.

other than that no problems. mine are both poly one split trip, one scoop, won't go back to a steel blade.
