Guys,

Did not know if anyone else saw it, but there is a story and picture of a new Cummins 5.6 litter..and a 4.2liter -v-6 into smaller trucks under 8500.. hp for the motors are 300 -350 for v8 depending on turbo config and 250-275 for v-6. Also supposely the motor will be limited to only 460 lbs of torque....
Cummins is looking at trying to put them under 9 sec quarter and 22mpg for 2009

Pete , A 9 sec quarter ? Whats the trap speed 150 ? Hmmmm that will take all production cars out there including the Ferarri Enzo
The 22 MPG is great , that will help with diesel being 45-50 cents more than regular gas

These engines are just about ready now, they arent to compete with the heavy duty 5.9B found in the heavy duty Dodges. These are lightweight light duty V8s similar to the Ford and Gm diesel offerings, and they are only being put in 1/2 ton trucks and light 3/4 ton trucks and SUVs. The TDR magazine had an article on them,in testing the Cummins 5.6v8 in the 1/2 ton trucks literally walks away from any of the gasoline V8s, the 345HP Dodge hemi, and Gm 345Hp 6.0 Vortec included. Torque will be limited to keep the 1/2 ton running gear alive, and discourage heavy towing with 1/2 tons. Its too bad we have to wait so long to get these engines.Id like to have one in 1500 4x4 suburban for a family vehicle, itd make a nice, efficient ride.
