hello to our MD friends. :waving
I lived down that way for 17years. Glen Burnie-Ferndale to be exact.
itsgottobegreen - We got the Harley out and rode down to Mt Airy just a couple of weeks ago to visit some friends out on Gillis Falls road.
Sure could go for some Bluecrab right now. I heard the cost of them is out of control this year.

Hi guys,I'm not from MD but would like to move in a couple of years outside of NJ,how do you like living there? How much snow do you get?The western part of the state looks to get alot of snow, how big is the population? We went on a trip to SC this summer as soon as we got into MD people seemed much nicer than NJ.

Don & Joan Jones at the top of the hill where Cabbage Springs connects to Gillis Falls. Headed from your place, it's the old house on the left with big detached garage. He used to have a barn but we torn it down in 96'
Usually has a big straight truck parked in the driveway - Black with lettering "Bailey's Express"
I couldn't believe how much it had built up there. When I was riding up 27, I drove past Gillis Falls because I was looking for the open field with the pond. It's not so open anymore!

Small world.
I can see that house from my house. I always wonder what he did with that "Bailey's Express" truck. Nice looking freightliner than never seems to move.
Mine is the big all brick one up in the woods above the 13th putting green. Has the white dump truck in the driveway.
As for the open field with the pond. You are correct. I have been here for 5.5 years and they are building like crazy.
Wasn't Gillis falls still gravel in 1996' I know it was paved just in the last 10 years or so.

It is a small world. The Freightliner is his daily driver. He owns the company and mostly does local work between Baltimore and DC. No, I know the road has been blacktop since 93 when I first went out their when the Jones' bought that house.
I was getting ready to buy some land, and move out there from Baltimore, but I had an opportunity in Pittsburgh that I could ot turn down. I do miss that area though.
I was also surprised to see homes built behind him. It was all open fields the last time I was out there.

Back when I was a kid the road was tar and chip but that was at least 30 years ago. I have lived in the area for all of my 44 years ( Taylorsville )

I do know my buddy Rob Strickles did put Gillis Falls in way back in the day with a D-6 cat. I always rag on him for not making it smoother. My neighbor Tony ??? used to own part of the ground we live on. He told me it was still grave for the longest time. It was only paved a while ago. So maybe it was 1990 - 1992 when the did pave it. I can only assume that the tar and chip was the gravel road he was refering too? I will ask him.
Man everyday this world just keeps getting smaller and smaller.
