So my brother calls me a few days ago, tells me his Wrangler brake pedal is going all the to the floor. So Christmas day we pull it in the garage and take a look, so the passenger side front steel line is leaking, then notice the steel line for the driver's front brake looking pretty rusty as well. So Monday rolls around, and I go to the dealer and order new steel lines (just because I didn't want to bend the lines).
I get back to the garage and we start dissasembly. As we're trying to get the rubber hoses off I notice that the pads are looking thin on the front, so we pull the calipers....and half of the inside pad falls off, same thing on the passenger side and both of the rotors are scored pretty badly, then we ended up not being able to get the rubber lines off anyway. So off to the parts store to get new stuff.
We also notice that the brake fluid is a real nice color of mud, so we figure we'll flush the brake system too. Pull off the drums on the back (might as well check the shoes there too) they aren't bad....except for the fact that about 4 pieces of springs fell out on both sides. So off to the parts store for the 2nd time.
On a good note after replacing everything it works great.
So to recap:
New steel lines up front,
New rubber lines up front,
New Pads,
New Rotors,
New Drums,
New Shoes,
and a $10 dollar bolt for the belt tensioner but that's another story all together.
Sorry for the book but I had to vent.
