I got a quote $3600.00 7.6 std plow smart hitch2 with push button control installed on my 2002 GMC 1500.... The price seems fair but I was wondering how much of the front air dam would have to be cut ???? If any one has any pics could you please post them .... Thanks:)

I was wondering how much of the lower bumper would have to be cut for the truck mount

I swear that truck sits no higher than most cars, rediculous.I wouldi magine your going to need to remove the entire front fascia or risk hacking it real bad.Is that a truck or a Yukon?

no its a Denali... thats what I was thinking it would end up all hacked to hell??? I was going to have the torsion bars cranked up so it doesnt sit so low

I would check to make sure you can even install a BOSS on a Denali.

The plastic between the tow hooks will have to be removed in order to get the push-beam high enough to clear everything.

The guy at the dealer said it was no problem.. but I plan on contacting Boss thursday morning to make sure and to see if they have any pics of the mount installed on a similar truck

If you install a plow on that GM you will need to get the dealer to install a updated clutch fan that will kick on at a lower temp. I am experiencing this problem now on my new GM dump truck.

This problem is because of the low profile on the GM as compaired to a ford.

I have a service appointment tomorrow i will ask the dealer about the clutch fan.... I opened the tail gate yesterday and thump both cables snapped:( also my low coolant light keeps comming on and off I cheked the fluid level and its fine might be a bad sensor???

Coolant sensors are common,as are the tailgate cables. The dealer should have both in stock.

I remember that with my Boss V plow, the top mounting pin holes in the mount had to be 15 1/2" from the ground. It doesnt look like you have enough room to get the mount even close to that high.I know that with a straight blade you should be able to get away with 14" or so,but still that looks difficult with that truck.

I found the owners manual Rt3 with smarthich 2 recommended push beam height is 15.5 inchs.... Might not work on this truck:( Thanks for the help:)

if it were me, I wouldn't put a plow on such an expensive truck. i'm not trying to put down your truck, just saying it's not worth hacking it all up and plowing with it, those really aren't setup for WORK trucks. Even with people who are careful plowing, it still beats up your equipment. JMO.

:huh I never ended up buying one.... I was worried about the weight and beam height ... The specs say its 650 lbs complete... The beam height 15.5 in I have enough room for that but the bumper will have to be notched... How much I dont know????

The price I was quoted was in december by a Boss dealer in Shelby Twsp I figured it would be marked up some being in the season

I would only be doing a few driveways.... Every time it snows  I get upset that i didnt get one... I have gotten to the point that i hate the city plower that loves recovering my drive with snow and covering my mailbox... Got home today and my drive is plowed in ... Enough snow to scrap my front bumper , I thought I cracked it ??? But thats my problem I keep getting plowed back in:huh And the snowblower only moves snow not a gaint frozen clump if ice???? I thought about the snowbear and the snowway the price seem kind of high for them thats why I was looking at the Boss plows and the Blizzard plows ...I see that the 760lt might work and the price seems resonable... I might go with the 760 for next year?? Thanks for any help

if you have to hack into a bumper, on that nice of a truck, it's not worth it. you can't hate the city plow guy for just doing his job, they can't help pushing snow in front of peoples driveways or mail boxes. it's gotta go somewhere.
use a blower for the main part of your driveway, and if you don't want to shovel the end, pay some kid 10 or 15 bucks, and let them shovel the heavy stuff on the end.

Too bad it is all one piece, otherwise you could just remove the lower "air dam" portion.

Wonder if a Regular GM Bumper would bolt up? You could probably find one from someone who upgraded and cut it instead, then in the spring just swap the stocker back on and either hide the plowframe behind it or remove it.

My buddy takes his off every spring to run a special bumper, not that big of a deal.

I remember wayyyyyyyyyyy back when............we were still over at "the other place" there was a crazy guy, maybe it was Blizzard Wizzard who had shots of a Cadillac Escalade EXT with a Blizzard on it..............Putting a blade on a HIGH END lux SUV is a waste in my opinion.............why put such an expensive investment through the trials and tribulations of plowing snow????

I should look up those pics .... But I clear my drive ,parents, and sister thats why I was thinking of getting a plow ... Maybe I am going over board on hating the guy he has a job to do just like everybody else and he is very good at covering my driveway backup....:)
