My Fisher V hooked up to my '04 GMC is moving noticeably slower this year than it did in it's first winter last year. The lights are dimming, and the battery charge indicator needle is dropping from 14 down to 9 when toggling the plow control.

Weak battery? Alternator? Other? What do you suggest?

Check all the battery and grille connections first. If you don't find anything,I'd look at the battery.Sounds like a typical Delco, and it's getting weak.

Could it be frozen up,or are you using ATF ? It's been pretty cold these last few days, maybe it's just the fluid ?

I'll check out the connections, but the plow has been slow all season, even in warmer conditions. I've inadvertantly drained the battery completely a few times by forgetting to turn off the auger switch on my salter before turning off the motor. I think it happened twice last winter, and did so once just the other day. The dang toggle switch is so sensitive that just brushing against it turns it "on", and there's no indicator lights to let you know if it's happened.

I haven't changed any of the fluids myself since buying the truck new. It's just gone in to the dealer for routine maintenance.

If I remember correctly deep cycling a standard car battery decreases its life by half every time you do it so the battery could be toast:headwall
