what kind of fluid should i use in my cable operated pump?

You can use regular ATF.If you want less amperage draw and better low temp performance get the synthetic lo temp blue fluid. I get the gallons from the western dealer,its cheaper than buying the quarts.I run synthetic lo temp in all my plows it works much better in all conditions.

ok i woke up this morning went to start the truck to take it to school. now the plow performed perfect last storm im very happy with it. but today the plow would not move. wouldnt go up, wouldnt angle. what could this be, water in the pump that froze up?

Did you change it yet ? It could be frozen if it's old fluid.

Is the motor turning ? does it draw the voltmeter down ? If the fluid is frozen,the voltmeter should drop hard,as the pump tries hard to turn.

i havent chaned the fluid yet. the motor turns over fine and it wants to work. i think it is frozen

I told you when you got it to replace the fluid right away,since it was sitting almost 2 yrs.I hope you got it working. With temps near zero,the low temp plow fluid is so far superior to ATF,the difference is hgue at that temp.
