I am interested in purchasing a plow, but concerned about the ground clearance when the plow is not on as I use the pickup for off road hunting, etc. I have a 2002 Silverado 2500HD Duramax/Allison setup. This would be my first plow and am trying to learn as much as possible. Thank You

I've got a 03 DA CC and have no problems with clearance.

My 2001- 2500HD has 10" under the lowest point of the plow frame ;)
It makes a difference what size tires,if you turn the torsion bars up & if you chop the bottom of the sides off the Boss frame.
I bud of mine on a 2001 HD has 285-75-16, bars cranked 6 turns, with the side chopped & has 13" under the frame.
Another friend has stock tires 245-75-16 , no extra turns on the bars & didn't chop the side frame ends & only has 7.5"
So there is a difference in set-ups ;)

Thank you for the great info. My PU has stock tires and I figure that 7.5 inches of ground clearance will not be enough. What do you mean by chopping the side frames?

What do you mean by chopping the side frames?
The plow frame that mounts on the truck has multiple holes on the sides & pushbeam for sitting proper height & there is extra that hangs down that can be cut-off. BOSS wants the pushbeam height at x"s as to keep the push frame level. But you can raise the pushbeam height about a 1" & it will work fine.
I bud of mine on a 2001 HD has 285-75-16, bars cranked 6 turns, with the side chopped & has 13" under the frame.
I should note that he runs a 5/8"x 8" cutting edges not the stock 1/2"x 6" so he could get max ground clearance, this adds 2". I think this adds stress to the blade but he's been running it this way for 3 yrs. now. I'm pretty sure this would void the factory warranty.
And his push frame is 1.75" higher than recomended, all for more ground clearance.

crank the torsion bars up and add 700# of ballast to the back. will have drop the plow on blocks cause it will never mount.
