I may need to install my 810 this weekend because they can't get to it until Wed. They say we may get hit with a huge storm on Monday. I need to know how hard the electrical, mounting and any other things that you guys know about. Any comments please. I have a garage I can work out of, and a buddy who knows alot about cars. I work on machines all day, just not cars. I would say I have a skill level of 5-6 out of 10 on a vehicle.

Not too hard.Maybe a 5-6 on a scale of 1-10.It helps to have another person handy too.

If you run into problems, there are knowledgeable guys here who can help out.

NY,

Our guys mounted an 810 on a Ford F350 in 8 total man hours and an 8611 on a F450 in 6 man hours. One right after another. I was told by the dealer that they estimate 4-5 hrs for an install.

Make sure to have the instructions handy and you should be good to go.

Good luck

D.J.

NYRookie,
Just got done installing a 810 on an 04 chevy 3500 tonight. Took me 3 hours to put the plow together myself , and 3 hours (2 guys) to mount the frame and run the wiring. This was my first plow but had alot of help from guys on here before I started. I took mega pictures of the whole install that I can email you. The hardest part was the hoses, learned a few little tricks that worked out great. Let me know I will help as much as possible.

Thanks for the info guys. Dave the pics would be good. Do I have to cut into any wiring? Any special tools I need?

THe only wiring that had to be splices was the turn signals. My brother puts in a lot of car starters, and he was amazed at how simple the wiring was. I have alot of close up pics of the hoses, wiring, and the frame. The frames only took me 30 minutes and that was removing the front lower piece.
Nothing special for tools, I did notice that the 11/16 wrench wouldn't go on some of the hoses,,(no clue as to why) but an 18mm did the trick. I will get the pics in my computer and have them ready for you.

Don't know if you will have to drill holes for your truck, but plan on 10-16 hours assembling and installing the plow.

Pay special attension to the power hitch on the back of the a frame.

While you have it apart put anti seize on everything inclusing the pins in the plow for the wings.

Putting an 810 on an 04 Chevy 2500 next week. What's the thread (s) to aid in doing the install?

I want anyone but me to do it. However, my mechanic suggested that since if something goes wrong during a plow event he'll be the one coming out to fix it, and he reasons that by doing the install he'll know more about it. Sounds logical to me. I figure he and I will attempt to hook it up together.
Thanks for the offer, maybe some day we can still hook up and meet.
