The 94 F350 I'm driving this winter keeps stalling on me when the RPMs are low. It usually happens after I take my foot off the gas. It seems to happen more often the longer I plow. First 4-5 hours were fine, but then it started. Almost smells like it floods it's self. Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

When I worked for another company years ago, we had the same thing. Does it do it more or worse in reverse? I believe we had the transmission serviced and that was the problem. Something where it was loading up in reverse and causing it to stall.

We have seen quite a few with leaking quick disconnects on the fuel lines. It will suck air,and once the air gets in the fuel,it will start stalling. You can add a section of clear line up near the front to look for the presence of air bubbles. It's usually the ones at the back that suck air.

My '97 did a similar thing, many times when I slowed to make a turn the truck would stall. It was still under warranty at the time, the dealer replaced the Cam Positioning Sensor and it cleared it up. This is a very common item for failure, I know quite a few PowerStroke owners carry an extra one in the glove box so they don't become stranded.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll pass them along and let you know what it turns out to be. John it seems to be happening in drive as much or even more often then it happens in reverse.:beatsme

If it's worse in drive, more than likely then Steve and Chris are on a better track for things to look at.
Good luck.
I had the same problem with our 97. As Pelican already stated it was the CPS. It's a simple plug and play swap. Part cost around $100 at an International dealer, around $170 at Ford Dealer.

Drove it a couple of days ago and it never stalled once in 10 hours of plowing. Got back to the shop and asked them what they did. They said they just changed the fuel filtter. Guess it was pretty bad. Drove it yesterday for 25 hours straight and it never stalled once, so it looks like it's fixed. Thanks for all the suggestions.
