240 More Lb-Ft Thanks To Edge Products Juice With Attitude
For 2004-05 Chevy/GMC Duramax LLY Diesels
(Click Thumbnail For High-Res Image)
OGDEN, UT - Edge Products, the leader in diesel performance technology, announces a new Juice With Attitude system for the 2004 LLY-series 6.6L Duramax diesel. This kit shares features with Edge's first-generation Duramax system. However, the new engine's different PCM, injectors, turbo and other refinements required Edge to re-engineer its LLY system from scratch. Increased Edge power starts with the Juice module. Fully sealed for weatherproof operation and implanted with a premium Motorola chip, the Juice can be installed by the do-it-yourselfer in 10 minutes or less, thanks to factory-style connectors. The module continuously recalibrates engine signals for fuel pulse, ignition timing, turbo boost and prevents transmission slippage. To optimize the Juice module, Edge adds its Attitude monitor/controller to the package. The Duramax Attitude serves three main functions: replacing aftermarket gauges, allowing the driver to switch among five Juice power modes on the fly, and capturing performance data. First, the Attitude's backlit LCD shows critical engine information digitally and as bar graphs: including EGT, boost, engine temperature, percent of engine load and throttle percentage. For ultimate reliability, the Attitude can be programmed for engine-saving de-fueling at preset levels to keep temperatures under control as well as sounds an audible warning. The Juice With Attitude also taps into the vehicle's speed-sensor circuit. This allows the speedo to be recalibrated for non-stock tire sizes. The Attitude can also capture and display 0-60 and quarter-mile times. Using the included swivel arm, the Attitude can be mounted in a variety of locations without modifying the A-pillar. In fact, the entire Juice With Attitude installation can be done by a competent do-it-yourselfer in approximately an hour. MSRP is $925. Edge Products manufactures plug-in modules, programmers, and in-cab controllers for popular late-model domestic diesel trucks, vans and motorhomes. Edge's customer service is some of the best I have ever experience from ANY company. Cars parts or anything, they are GREAT. I will say I really liked my juice for my LB7 but the juice for the LLY(new 04.5 to present) seems to have some programing bugs that need to get worked out. All chip manufactures seem to do this and have this problem. They want to get thier stuff out first and the first group of users ends up being just another beta test group. After a few updates they ussually get everything right. Only programer I know of that dosnt seem to take this aproach and gets it right the first time IMO is Steve Cole at TTS. His programing is great........

So, does any codes show up when I take a truck with the edge to the dealer? Figured I "might" buy one if it doesn't leave any incriminating evidence when I go in for service??

What do you think of a 5500 with the juice:D

Its a piggy back box. you unplug the big bale connectors that are on top of the motor and it fits between the motor and the stock brain. The stock brain thinks all is right with the world and is not the wiser that you have it in place. I liked my juice but I would give Steve Cole a call or shoot him an email at TTS if you are interested in a mild chip. He will set you up with something and can put certian parameters were ever you want(like rev or speed limiter, correct for differnt sized tires, ect)

I am almost positive that he has a bigger truck out there with his programing, I'm pretty sure he said something about it at one time.....

Juice, no incriminating evidence if you remove it. If you get the reflash type box from Steve then you need to reflash it back to stock, or you can get a new brain from Steve and you just sawp brain before you take it in.

If your seriously interested shoot me a PM......I can get you Steve's contact info or get you in touch with a good guy thats big into Tranys and is a dealer for Steve. And I can let you in on some other info;)

I agree with Phillip,Edge's customer service is the absolute best out there. Unfortunately Ive had to use it quite a bit, every LB7 duramax juice i put in went bad within 18 months.I also had a Bully dog dyno dominator go belly up as well. I preffer to use the programming to get the power, its more reliable IMO. Since most guys run larger tires, the programmers allow you to compensate for them as well.
If i was to build a hot duramax today i would NOT start with an LLY,id go with the old 300hp setup.

Truck starts running only at idle, and missing, spitting, blowing white smoke if you try to give it throttle. Engine sounds like its got a rod knock, and going to blow apart.. At first it will do it intermittently, eventually it will barley run. Unhook the box,and its perfect(exc it then is stock again).Edge made good on every box,in fact they sent me brand new ones instead of repairing them.Biggest problem ws driving a bone stock truck while waiting for the new Juice to arrive.

thier quality of the hard ware does seem to have taken a dive a bit lately:(

Piggy backs are nice since they can sense for trans slip and they also have provisions for EGT back down(pulls power whe a egt limit is reached, edge is user adjustable banks is preset from them) VA just senses trans slip. the sensing of trans slip still isnt 100% safe since there has to be slip happening for it to back down and that means you have already started slipping the trans when it starts doing its thing.

I duno about the LLY vrs LB7, time will tell.

Phillip, the LLYs ive programmed have more lag,and run hotter EGTS with the 50hp setting than the LB7 does with a 95hp program. The LB7 w 95 program will smoke the LLY with a 50hp,and it drives much nicer, and egts are lower towing.

not every one has figured out the LLY yet. they do run hotter though it seems. early juice programs werent as refined. Many have reported Steve's tow tune for the LLY as VERY nice and have reported no hiccups......but people jump his **** becasue he dosnt have any higher hp tunes released.....yet bitch about finicky tunes. You get some nice barks on upshifts too with the lly? LLYs do smoke more comparitvly, I believe the egr has abit to do with this.

Ther are bigger tunes for the LLY out there they just havent been released yet. ;)

Ive been using the Bully dog tuner (power pup),mostly because it is a good tuner, easily makes enough power that the ally is the limit, and its priced right. There is a 155hp tune for the LLY in the tuners i install.I wont load that tune with a stock trans.I havent used a juice on an LLY yet. Most Dmaxes i tune only have tuner, air filter/exhaust and guages at the most. Most arent interested in going further.

who released a 155 tune? is it 155 over stock peak or do they pick the most gain at a certian rpm range? Some do marketing that way since they can get bigger reported numbers.

Bully dog has it in there power pup. They have it for both LLY and LB7 http://www.xtremediesel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=314. If you want the 155 program click on unleash the power at the bottom of the screen. The 150 program works, it quickly a destroyed a freinds allison.

Ive had an LLY box with the 155 program since the first week of november. That first tuner had the 155 program in it, you had to call Bully dog to (unleash it). The LB7 program is the same, you need to call ,and sign a waiver to get it (but its free),they give you a password to enter into your tuner and your home free. The 150 program is underated, It seriously smokes like a freight train and pulls insane with it,the ally slips immediately if you try to roll into the power on the road in that setting. :D :burnout

What about The few of us like myself who have an 05 Dmax infront of a stick, with the new injectors etc, but with the old power rating of 300/520? do we need a different tuner box,? I havent really looked into it but I had been wondering about it for the last while.

your power level is all tuning related to keep the dm flywheel from tossing its cookies.
