Does the flexible mount shaft remove from the mount ends? So can it be replasced with a solid shaft of the same diameter?

I want to mount to the floor, but without a 12" height, and with out the flexibility.

I'll either make my own mount, or buy tyhe Blizzard unit and replace the shaft with a shorter shaft.
