Salesrep welcome to LTS. After reading your pole I think you have missed some of the big headaches or at least the ones I have heard the guys talk a lot about.

Rust on trucks :
Salt spreaders:
Pump motors:
Plows:

Not sure they are headaches but we do try to keep the maintenance done so they are always working.

Thanks Tileman. Attempting to learn more about this industry. I am famiier with heavy equipment and have townships as customers. I know chains on certain spreaders can be a pain. How does one maintain pump motors?

Pump motors need to have the fluid changed and the filters changed. Make sure all the wireing is clean and tight.

Some pumps may need some different things done.

Why do salt motors fail?
Why do hoses have to be replaced often?

Failures of most snw related equipment can be traced back to road salt iam sure Ill uses it It eats up motors wiring trucks sheetmetal my 01 superduty underside looks like a 15yr old truck it only has 4500 miles on it salt is just plain bad stuff.

We need it to do our job but it becomes the mence of every contrac

Salesrep,as was mentioned ,rust and corrosion are the biggest enemys. I have had zero drivtrain problems from pushing snow, its just that once the trucks get 5 yrs old the rust starts to set in.Ive even see certain brand trucks(not bashing, just true storys, that have needed new oil pans, brake lines, and fuel lines and in as little as 3 yrs,and these Fords are well cared for. As for plows, hoses, and pins, then the a frames, and quadrants usually. My GMC,the western unimount started cracking in 5 yrs.My quadrant on my 810 is already stretching the angle cylinder mounting holes oval, and its not even a yr old.Its these things that im concerned about. I use Shaeffers product a lot,and with good success.I can almost bet that if they make it,its a good product,Id may try it now.Im surprised my sales rep didnt mention they had it already.

John, almost every Ford that comes in my shop, thats a few years old, has rot spots on the oil pan, usually on the rounded off corner part. When I read that, I started shaking my head up and down because I knew exactly what you are talking about. Im not bashing the brand either, but the Fords seem to be very prone to this on their oil pans, just like Chevy cant make an intake gasket that lasts. :D Mike ;)

Well I tried to fix the oil pan problem by undercoating the pan.Maybe it will save that $2K dollar bill to replace .

How come these weren't options, breaking the rusty conveyor and auger/spinner chains free in all of your v boxes and messing with the carbs so they run right the first time you start them. And I agree the Rust factoris a big one also.
