For the people that know me well, you know that I hate doing something because everyone is doing it. I dont care about trends and I like to be different. Well last year my daughters school wanted me to do the thanksgiving story, okay no problem but I really dont care for the turkey thing to much sooooo....
We went in with meatloaf! yep and darn good meatloaf too! and the story in brief was like this-look kids everyone knows about the indians and pilgrims but heres a story you dont know. And I went on to explain how it snowed on thanksgiving and everybody had to plow all day, and then the breakdowns and yada yda and I explained how everybody helped each other so we could all get done early and have thanksgiving, nobody was jealous or had attitudes we just all pitched in and helped. Now when everybody was done all the snowplowers got together to give thanks for the snow and all the help but had no time to cook a turkey so we made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, buttered corn and all the rest of the trimmings. We then sat down and all ate dinner. This was a huge hit! you should have seen the kids listening. End of the story comes and we all sat around and had meatloaf me, the teacher and all the heathens. So you guessed it, what did we make today? Snowplowers meatloaf and my daughters going bonkers. Umm Now if I can put a snowplowers twist on xmas?

Funny story! Shows how you can make good from any bad you're dealt.

I'm sorry, last Christmas was the last "Snowplower's Christmas" I hope I see! We celebrated 2 days later after my route was done!

I'm amazed to see people have been on this site all day. Guess I'm not the only diehard. Hope everyone had a great meal.

That story was great! Having 5 boys, it kinda reminds me of some of the things I've done to keep them entertained. I just got back from another bad restaraunt dinner. All I can say is that I would like for one yer to sit down to a nice home cooked meal- maybe a Venison roast, done crockpot style? With homemade trashed taters, veggies from my own garden, a little Schnapps, and maybe a cigar and some brandy after dinner?

Mmmmmmmm.......... Now I'm making my mouth water!!!

Bill

Oh- and nope you're DEFINITELY not the only one obsessed with this site- I think it's cuz we're family , and just cause we live so far apart doesn't mean we can't spend Turkey day together somehow!!!

Family tradition on the in-laws side to go out for a meal. We used to go over to my wifes other Grandmas for a real home cooked meal afterwards, but she passed away this spring from cancer. So now we have to start some new traditions- it's just tough to try and cook at home when you have to go out in the middle of the day. The important thing is that the family still gets together and sees each other. I guess that counts for something, especially since we don't really see that much of one another throughout the year.

I like the thought of a schnapps after dinner, but I only smoke cigars when I am fishing LOL :grinz
