Just wondering how many of you have at least one of these in your fleet. Even if it is a back up truck.

LOL all you used to talk about was how CRAPPY Chevy trucks were, and how GREAT Ford trucks were...make up your mind my little friend. Oh wait, I know, all the trouble you have been having with that new imaginery Ford F550 has made you now like Chevy trucks?!? My deepest apologies to Chuck for this post, but I had to say it. Mike

Just picked up an '87 K5 Blazer. I'm getting the Meyer plow installed this week, it will be my back-up.
When I started my own business, my first truck was an '86 C30. I went through some tough times with that truck! It just wouldn't die. I sold it in 1999, and believe it or not, I still see it on the road:burnout Well maybe not, that thing couldn't get out of it's own way

Sure do the boys will be ready with there new trucks real soon. (look in the projects section -Chevy trucks project)

We have been running them for a lot of years and the boys wanted to rebuild a couple to plow with.

Rich, BJ and Jimmy

So we have two in our fleet :)

Ahh, we got ourselves another namecalling, internet tough guy, a young one at that. :D You brought all this on yourself by being nothing but a liar on this forum ever since you registered. Even if you did show us pics of 3 trucks parked together, no one here would believe they were yours anyway...Out of respect for everyone here, especially the mods and Chuck, I will not continue the arguement. Considering I started it, I will end it too. Good luck in the future my little friend, you're certainly gonna need it. :) Mike

Well I started out with a 77 Gmc 1/2 ton then went to an 84 3/4 ton and replaced that with another 84 3/4 ton. Put a Brand new tranny in before I put it on the road, They are so simple to fix if there is a problem and parts are easy to find, "if you need to fix it" now lets see some SNOW !!plowing!

We have two 77 Jimmy's.They are pretty much bulletproof. They don't push as well as the newer bigger diesels, but with the tight turning radius, they are awesome in tight spots and daytime storms in traffic.

I have a 90 Full Size Blazer

and I am getting my old 86 K30 back from my brother in law. Seems he doesn't need it anymore.

:D

He put alot of work into it, and I may decide to do a bit more. It won't go on the road this winter but if things work out, its gonna get all dressed up for next winter for sure :grinz :burnout plowing!

For those that don't know, the Blazer and Suburban (and 1 ton dually) retained the 73 - 87 body style until 1991.

I'm another in the "wish I never sold it" camp.
I plowed for 20 years with an 83 Chevy reg cab LB, 6.2 diesel. With the 8' Fisher Speedcast and belt driven hydraulics, that rig never let me down once (not counting two flat tires!).

I sold it two years ago to a guy who I'm sure is still working it today.

I don't own one now but I did own 87 3/4 to gmc w/ 8' fisher for 7yrs. It was the fist new truck I bought and I put 190k on it before selling it.

I love these trucks. My first truck, and plow truck combined. 85 k20, picked it up for 1500 with the 8 foot fisher with belt driven pump. I pulled the bed off, blasted the frame, did all of the general repairs, and painted it. Looked nice for a few years, till all of the rust started comming out, and the second engine started loosing compression.

I just baught a mint cab and chassis, cleaned the frame, painted that, swapped over my lift and suspention, got new bed sides, and put together a solid, good running truck. Hope to have it all painted in the next 2 weeks.

I also went to an 8'6 western unimount, combined with an auto tranny, the truck is a dream to plow with compared to my first one with stick and fisher plow.

I have soo many spare parts now, that no matter what dies, I can be back on the road plowing in a few hours at most.

My current plow truck is a 1986 Chevy C30 cab chassis with a 10' dump body. It only has 34k original miles but the underside is starting to rust pretty bad. I just replaced all the brake and gas lines, two gas tanks, new front springs and fuel pump. The body is rust free except for a hole on the drivers side floor. The original blue paint is not in too good of shape and makes the truck look like crap. But the original 454 and 3spd w/granny works great. I have Western 8-1/2' Pro Plow and a Meyer tailgate salt spreader. I've plowed with the truck for the past 3 years and its not let me down. The only problem is that its only 2WD! I just make sure I have a couple thousand pounds in the back and it will pretty much go anywhere the 4x4 plow trucks go. But do have to be careful on steep slopes.

I may be looking to sell the plow and truck soon and get a new plow for my '04 2500hd. I really would hate to see the ole truck go but the maint. is getting expensive for a truck that only gets used in the winter. If I can find a way to keep the truck I will. Maybe I'll just sell the plow, keep the truck and buy the new plow for the '04. Who knows...

I still have my old '85 GMC K-2500 that just won't die no matter how hard it has been beaten by life and plowing or whatever. This old war horse had 148,000 miles on it when I put it into service as a plow truck. I don't have a picture to post but if any of you have seen the brochure from SIMA of a couple of years ago it is the one in the middle of the inside.

This is my first post on this site and many of you may remember me from ******** where I was under the handle of "plowjockey".
Kind of seems funny to be a "rookie" poster again. LOL

Bruce, is that plow attached to the truck? It seems like it's leaning too far forward and would trip a lot?
Nice rigs everyone.

Yes it is a little high in the pin location but only about one and a half inches. I does all right but is an old set-up that I had to adapt for that truck.
Had shorter tires when it was first assembled but it does not trip that much.
Been plowing with this truck for four or five years now and it is a real workhorse.
Some of it is an optical illusion due to the way my snow deflector is mounted.

I have a '77 GMC 1/2 ton. It was my Dad's truck, he bought it new. I got it from him about 3 years ago when he finally broke down and bought a new Chevy. It's a rustbucket right now, but I'm in the process of resotring it........ Great trucks, this one has hauled things it was never designed to!

Hey Guys , Nice looking trucks ! I`m running and rapairing 3 old chevy`s . My `76 with a 7 foot western I rebuilt last year and a`75 blazer with a 7`6'' western and a `86 blazer with a 7'6'' western . All have worked great since I bought or built them , currently I am working on 2 projects , an `80 3/4 ton and another hybrid truck , an `82 blazer frame but putting a cab on it instead and cutting a short box down to fit behind . I don`t know how it will turn out but it was cheaper to go with a cab on it than to find a good blazer body in canada!!! I am hoping to get some pics on here in awhile I`ll post them when I get them done.Once again guys great looking trucks and plow on!plowing!

I have a 75' Chevy C10, LS9 V8, Quadrajet carb, camper top, full heavy duty options, 49,000 original miles. This truck is coming out of a 10 year hibernation. Working on the brakes at the moment, then Ill move on to tires.

Went to the North American auto show here over the weekend and got the chance to sit in a lot on new Chevy and GMS trucks. Probably the biggest difference that you notice between the new stuff and the "vintage iron" is that GM refers to their new trucks as luxury trucks, and notes in their sales literature that they can be configured as work trucks if so desired, while the 73-87's were work trucks from the start. I love the all business look of the older stuff.

I'll get some pix up soon. Truck looks quite presentable, but has a lot of bondo and fibreglass in it unfortunately. Not that it matters, the brakes and suspension are all new and it runs like a top.

Needs tires and the left rear axle hub has a leak in it, even though it has a new bearing and seal. (Not to worry I have lots of parts for these). Otherwise, a general cleaning and going over (especially the wiring--what are people thinking using marettes and twist-and-tape???). The dump needs the powerpack's valve and wiring checked out as it is working kinda funky.

I will be adding a plow to it, hoping to pick up an identical BOSS V plow to mine thats been sitting unused in my neighbour's driveway for about four years... made an offer last year but he said he was going to buy a truck for it--still hasn't happened so I will try again this summer. :D

I presently have 3 of them, 85 chev k10 with a fisher plow, 86 GMC k15 and I recently bought an 89 k5 jimmy that I got mainly for the engine because my 86 needs one, as for the rest of the jimmy it will be stripped this summer for parts and my 86GMC will be finally rebuilt and will recieve a fisher plow intime for next winter.
